It's directly across the river from DT St. Paul, and you wouldn't need a hotel if you come (unless I sell my house ridiculously fast which is unlikely.)
I can't help but laugh every time I think about a bunch of DMB fans and a bunch of Tool fans in the same place.
single day tickets, bro

I dont see this happy being that overall this lineup is fucking terrible. Hopefully year two will be better but I dont like the direction they are going in at all.
I hope Livenation loses a boatload! On this and their new stupid venue. Fuck them, and their terrible attempts at trying to take over this city

This festival needs to book The Violent Femmes.

HAHA. I wonder if I could convince my friend to go to this. I have waited to see Tool forever and it would give him a reason to come home from Hawaii and visit the fam in Moose Lake.
Between Rivers Edge and Soundtown, for my tastes I like Soundtown better. Pretty fair deal on their VIP package too. I'd like to go to both, but I think I gotta bail on Rivers Edge because the fam wants me to tag along on a weekend getaway that weekend. Here's Soundtown's lineup if it's not posted elsewhere-

oops sorry, one of these days I'll learn to hit the search button
I attended day 2. It wasn't the strongest lineup but it is a fest I will probably go back to.
Pros
Free shuttle to and from island
A lot of beer vendors with short/no lines
Great selection of food. I had my first fried smore on a stick
The scenery was ok, nothing great but far from shitty
5 dollar parking
Space for crowds - it never felt crowded
The silent disco went an hour past the 10pm band curfew. Also, there were 2 Djs playing at all time so you could switch who you wanted to listen to on your headphones
Summit beer
Very little litter on the ground
Not being limited to a beer garden
No pat downs. They quickly looked in bags and purses
Cons
Livenation
The long walk to he Lynx stage. I only went there to see Diplo over the second half of Dave Matthews
Drunks everywhere. Go figure
No art
Sound bleed between the Bishop and Chipolte stages if you were in the back of the crowds
Overall it was a solid experience and well run for it's first year.
No Rivers Edge in 2013. Last year was first year and Live Nation signed a five year deal so will have to pay the city something - think it's $50,000.
I was really looking forward to this. Sad. Try we're going to make this year 3 days and have that little island or end of the island as a pure EDM stage. Last year was ok but I seem the potential in it all and was really excited for their future.
