I forgot to post this, but I purchased Yamantaka // Sonic Titan - Uzu on clear and white vinyl a couple weeks ago.

To celebrate the purchase of my new, proper turntable (even though it doesn't ship for another month), I splurged on discogs. At last...
Lush - Lovelife on clear vinyl

It was listed by a seller in the US and it's unopened, so I couldn't resist. At last, I'll have it!

Apparently the gold triangle single of St. Vincent - Digital Witness is pressed on actual gold. Or not, but it's gone for $110-200 on discogs. Tempting to unload it at that price.

nice. Would like to hear Olympia whilst sipping hot coffee with the first morning sunrays coming through the upstairs windows. 1996, the good ole days when women were stylish and cute and so were the men.

Thanks! I'm super excited. It was on sale too! I saw Watt and his "San Pedro trio" open up for Fear last year. Just him, an organist and a drummer. One of the most impressive sets ever. Blew whatever the fuck is left of Fear out of the water.

Picked up Doin' The Thing - Horace Silver Quintent whilst visiting Sacramento. I'm not familiar with this one, but it's hard to go wrong with Horace Silver and Blue Mitchell.

I mentioned many pages back that I was looking for a system upgrade. For the turntable, I settled on a Denon DP300F with Ortofon 2M Red as offered by Needle Doctor. I then got a pretty decent Onkyo receiver from Craigslist. I use some nifty, old school Jensen speakers that I acquired long ago. My records have been sounding lovely - worth every penny invested.

To top it all off, I picked up a Denon cassette player from Craigslist and the sound is almost as crisp as the turntable.

One step closer to completing my Bat for Lashes collection. Grabbed Two Suns on discogs. Now I need the obscenely expensive singles (especially the ones with Beck and Toy) and the upcoming RSD release.

And someone found a cheap copy of Blonde on Blonde for me. Good day.

I'm going to start selling off my CD collection soon. Was anyone else besides greghead interested in a list? Should be cheap to ship within the US (via media mail).

Ok, for anyone who's interested then:
    http://xiuh.com/cd_collection.htm

Some caveats - the catalog numbers could be wrong on some (like some of the older ones for sure are music club releases), if there are any you're concerned about, I can double check. Assume the disc plays properly and disc and art are in good shape, but the jewel cases could have cracks or whatever. Oh, that's just a list of what I have catalogued on discogs, I'm probably not going to sell some of the most rare stuff, but we'll see. Make me an offer.

Nice. Is it the Homestead press or the Flying Nun? How much did you find it for?

Word is Graeme has fully reactivated the Verlaines and they'll be reissuing the catalog soon, like Flying Nun has slowly been doing.

Awesome! The Chills put out a live record recently that covers their whole career and sounds really good. And don't forget, the Dunedin Double is being reissued for RSD, so you can get the first Chills and Verlaines sides. That Chills side in particular is great.

I went to the local thrift store today and there was a shit ton of new stuff there. It seemed like two collections were dropped off: a fan of 50s vocal pop and 60s-80s country and a calypso/jazz percussionist. What I bought:

    Alabama - Mountain Music
    Alabama - Feels So Right
Thomas Jefferson and his Creole Jazz Band - Sleeytime Down South
Walter Wanderley - Rain Forest (Brazilian bossa nova from the 60s)
    The O'Jays - Comin' Through
    Thelonious Monk - Criss-Cross
    Les Baxter - Tamboo!
Kitty Wells - The Queen of Honky Tonk Street (still sealed)
    Waylon Jennings - Jewels

So this past week I was in the Bay Area visiting friends, I went to Rasputin, Amoeba and Streetlight Records and got the following used CD's:

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus
    Swans - Various Failures
Chemical Brothers - Exit Planet Dust
    Chemical Brothers - Surrender
    Negativland - Dispepsi
Screaming Blue Messiahs - Totally Religious
    Joe Jackson - Look Sharp!
Sloan - One Chord to Another
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

So for my bday my parents got me $100 gift certificate to amoeba for rsd2014, but I wanna go to Aquarius records instead. If anyone in the Bay Area wants to meet up somewhere near East Bay I'll give it to ya for $80.

Getting rid of them within the next month. If there's anything that jumps out at you, drop me a note, a friend is buying a significant amount of them shortly.
