So I was putting some copies of Kill Em All away at work and discovered a copy of Psychocandy randomly placed among them. Thanks, WEA, for sending the completely wrong record that also happens to be one of my all-time favorites. AND I didn't own it on vinyl yet. Boom.

    LP:
The Jesus & Mary Chain - Psychocandy

Andrew, convince Metallica that its in their best interests to send me copies of Kill 'Em All and And Justice For All, as I do not yet own them. The Black Album too, while they're at it.

I believe we are marking down vinyl for Black Friday. I will confirm that for you.

So there's this website, oldies.com, who is/was(?) having a massive vinyl clearance sale. For a total of $42 (shipping was free) I picked up:

    Prince - "Nothing Compares 2 U / Peach" 7"
    At the Drive-In - Vaya (white 10")
    V/A - The Minimal Wave Tapes, Vol. 2 (2xLP)
    Owen Pallett - Heartland (180g 2xLP)
Dirty Projectors - Swing Lo Magellan (deluxe ltd. version)

Traded in a pile to Rasputin and picked up the Geogaddi repress. So good.

And Bryan, I forgot that you owed me a beer for those couple records and stupidly paid for our beers at Indy. Interest starts accruing .... now.

I think I"m gonna have to bring some stuff over next time I come from Mammoth Brewing. And if they get themselves built in time, June Lake Brewing too.

Oh, and that Miles Smiles? Dollar bin.

My dad and I are seriously considering buying 35,000 records and starting a little side project selling records. I'm heading down tonight to make sure they're legit and not just clearance shit they're calling "overstock." 446 boxes of records. I think Jennie really may kill me ...

Not sure if this is the thread to ask this in but I couldn't find a better one. I'm looking to get some standing speakers for my sound system and I have a budget of around $1500. I'd appreciate any recommendations.

I pitched him an idea for a pop up record shop and he was down; I'll pick them up later this week. Worst case I dump what I can, get our money back, and laugh at the experience.
    Entrepreneurship, here I come.

And Nathan, you have numerous options in that price range. I'll get back in here a bit later.

Paging Icey...he's got a very, very nice set of speakers which were right in that price point IIRC.

I've currently got some Bose 301 Series 1 as my system. They're bookshelf speakers, but they're spectacular for a small room, especially for the value that you get out of 301s. I know people tend to hate on Bose because of their corporate structure, but the 301s have really solid sound if you're playing with a small area.

Between Saturday and tonight, I knocked out a number of records that I had on my priority list:

Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism (10th anniversary reissue)
Washed Out - Life of Leisure EP (2nd pressing)
Boards of Canada - Geogaddi (2013 reissue)
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion (used)
Kurt Vile - Wakin on A Pretty Daze (blue vinyl, used)

M-Theory (and Record City, to a lesser extent) is awesome.
    Upcoming Shows:
    • Caribou @ The Fonda in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 28th
    • The Replacements @ The Palladium in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 15th
    • Belle & Sebastian + Mac Demarco @ The Fox Theater in Pomona, CA on Thursday, April 16th

    6x Coachella Attendee (2007 - 2011, 2014a)

M - Theory is a place that kind of understands pricing, but only in a very specific zone. I bought an OP copy of Loaded by VU for 2 bucks there in pristine condition and a copy of Terry Riley - A Curved Rainbow... for 5. If it's weird, they don't quite get it.

Which is to say, go there frequently, and you got some great shit.

Nathan, I'm a big fan of Monitor Audio. They're a British company that make medium to high end audiophile gear. I have pair of Silver RS-6 as my standing speakers and I absolutely love them. With your budget, though, you can easily explore some of the higher product lines. Highly recommended. http://www.monitoraudio.com

Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die (RSD release) -- thanks, greghead!!!
V/A - Music for Death from Circles to Square --- I haven't had a chance to listen to this yet but I'm so curious. I bought it for a specific track but the rest sounds really interesting. (It's all unreleased weird industrial and experimental stuff).

Yeah. That Kurt Vile record was only $17 when I've seen copies (albeit unopened) go for $40 on discogs.

so how was it? ordering the LP today, i think it's green, just having the CD doesn't do this album justice especially after seeing it live. great performance, just wish it was longer.
