I bought this record for my girlfriend a while back and it sounds fantastic. Hearing her play the record has turned me into a Florence fan. A solid purchase. All solid purchases, actually, good score.

Yeah, it's funny: I sort of half-bought it for my wife. We listened to it today, and I love how huge the songs sound.

And I scored a few $1 LP's at the thrift store today:

The Grassroots – Let's Live for Today (Creed Bratton from The Office's late-60's psychedelic band)
    The Police – Zenyatta Mondatta
The Police – Ghost in the Machine
Prince & The Revolution – Parade

I was in South Lake Tahoe this morning getting registered as a wedding officiant. On my way out I stopped at a store there and picked up two things on the cheap:

    Link Wray - Bullshot
Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Pt. 1

I also found a $10 Amoeba gift certificate in my jacket. Stoked for that.

Picked these up from work, all new. Was too hard to hunt down used copies of the older stuff, plus I got some pretty great discounts.

    Phoenix: Bankrupt!
    Violent Femmes: Violent Femmes
    Sound City: Real to Reel
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist: Orignial Soundtrack
    The Smiths: Meat is Murder
    Ramones: Ramones
    The Gorillaz: Plastic Beach
    Blur: Parklife
Daft Punk: Random Access Memories (Pre-Order)

Then miraculously snagged a copy of Tame Impala LE RSD release from Record City, had no idea how the fuck that happened but I'm gonna meet them before their show here in SD and I'm totally getting it signed.

Also, don't know if anyone has heard of "Feedbands" but they take unsigned artists, press their debut album on special vinyl (different colors, etc.), then release it in limited numbers to their subscribers. It's $20 a month and they do not release the name of the bands as they want you to listen for the first time on vinyl. They have a full refund 60 day return policy and the first record is free. Interesting concept, should look it up. Also before anyone asks I'm in no way affiliated with the company.

    Discogs question -

Recently made a purchase, sent the money paypal. But the shipper has yet to update the status, and its been almost a week. Has anyone ever ordered something and had it arrive without the 'Seller' updating the status?
Coachella 07 (the introduction), 08 (the bands), 09 (the documentary), 10 (the people i came with), 11 (the relationship test... we passed), 12 (whatever the weather, Dirty Epic forever), 13 (the year of the troll)

Yup. I have four orders from years past that have never been updated to "Paid" and I have all of those records in my collection. I'd message the guy just to get an update.

Shopping the "dollar bin" equivalent of discogs results in some weird groupings of purchases:

    Berlin - Love Life LP
Chaka Khan - I Feel for You LP
Arcadia - So Red the Rose LP
Father MC - Treat Them Like They Want to Be Treated 12"
Rufus & Chaka Khan - Stompin at the Savoy 2xLP
Supremes - More Hits by the Supremes LP
Elton John - Honky Chateau LP
Missing Persons - Spring Session M
    Usher - 8701 2xLP

    Mailorder:

Mock Orange - Nines & Sixes (2011 reissue on green marbled vinyl; this is one of my favorite albums from when I was younger, and it was on sale for only $5)
The White Stripes - "Fell in Love With a Girl"/"I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" 7" (red RSD 2012 version)

Also picked this up at Kurt Vile/The Fresh & Onlys last night:

The Fresh & Onlys - Play it Strange

That might be the single best album in Elton's entire catalog. Good haul. And that Rufus/Chaka Khan joint should make an appearance at record club some time.

I cruised by Amoeba on a whim and scored a few hits in the dollar bins:

Poco - Poco (I already have this but haven't been able to find it on my shevles in months, so...)
Hargus "Pig" Robbins - Country Instrumentals of the Year
Dinah Washington - A Memorial Tribute (tribute to Dinah by Ray Charles, Cab Calloway, Sarah Vaughan & Lena Horne. Fucking delicious.)
Rock and Roll Forever (a 70s comp of the Ronettes, the Crystals, Darlene Love, etc)

    Non-Clearance:
    Black Flag - My War

Anyone needing an 80s copy of "Slip it In," or are interested in blue or black ink versions of "Nervous Breakdown" should head down Amoeba ASAP. Can't imagine those three will stay very long.

Yesterday I hit up Amoeba in Berkeley and Rasputin and grabbed the following:

Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine (XX picture disc version)
Frank Ocean - Nostalgia, Ultra (Clear vinyl, same people who did the Channel Orange bootleg)
Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz
Orange Juice - You Can't Hide Your Love Forever (RSD release - they had all of them still at Rasputin!)

And then bballarl traded me a copy of Roxy Music - Country Life with the censored cover. Good haul.

Nice. I hadn't really been to Amoeba in a while, but it was hitting today. Good stuff everywhere I looked but I'm on a budget and had to put back a ton of really great stuff.

Same here. I switched my choices about seven or eight times before I settled on the first two from Amoeba.

I've never owned My War on vinyl and was expecting side A on a used copy to be a bit more marked and play with a bit more surface noise than side B.

    I was right.

Yeah, they had a few copies of the other ones. I grabbed the last copy of You Can't Hide Your Love Forever. It took a bit of searching to find the RSD section. Amoeba Berkeley had two of the OJ albums as well.

So, holy crap. I paid $16 apiece for these (and used a $10 gift certificate I found in a jacket pocket that I had forgotten about) and they're both selling for crazy high prices. Amoeba Berkeley always gets random stuff like this and doesn't know how to price it. Score! I only saw one of the Frank Ocean LPs but if you're in Berkeley it'd be worth checking to see if there are anymore. Apparently it's an edition of 750 and was released on RSD, so it's probably gonna be tough to track down.

Channel Orange sounded really good, but I haven't had time to listen to Nostalgia yet. I'll report back after I play it tonight.

I found Channel at a store in Bakersfield that had four or five copies called Going Underground Records. Might be worth calling them to see if they have copies of either. I paid $22 for the one I bought there.
