If not already familiar with the Pogues, If I Should Fall From Grace With God is also worth checking out. It contains my favorite Christmas song ever.

I caved and just ordered Darkstar's News from Nowhere and Suede's Bloodsports. And preordered the new Max Cooper. Bring on record club.

With a bit of research and refreshing I could be down with this. I stand by my assertion though: none of the other Pogues albums have Cuchulainn, Dirty Old Town, Pair of Brown Eyes, Sally MacLennane. If I made a Pogues Best Of it would include 90% of Rum.

Which is not to say that If I Should Fall From Grace With God or Peace and Love (the first Pogues album I loved) are bad or even merely good, I just don't quite find them up to the insane level of quality of Rum.

Also, Boredoms are issuing Chocolate Synthesizer and Pop Tatari (for my money, their two best early records) for the first time on vinyl in May.

I let out an audible yelp when I saw them listed. Acid Polizay!

Yup. This is SUPER promising, as it suggests they're willing to issue their older work now, and I'm really hoping that means Super AE and Vision Creation Newsun are coming at some point.

Amazon launches AutoRip for vinyl, pairs MP3s with your records

Earlier this year, Amazon launched a service called AutoRip for CDs, which gives customers free digital copies of every CD they purchased from Amazon going back to 1998 and going forward for new CD purchases. The copies can be streamed or downloaded as MP3s from Amazon's Cloud Player. It turns out, Amazon was only scratching the surface: starting today, the company is offering AutoRip for vinyl records purchased on Amazon since 1998 and for all new vinyl bought from the website going forward.

"Many of our music customers are vinyl fans and it’s traditionally been very difficult to make digital versions of vinyl records," said Steve Boom, head of digital music at Amazon, in a statement. "Now customers can enjoy the albums they buy wherever they are, not just when they have access to a record player.”

The move is a savvy one for Amazon, given that vinyl music sales have been resurgent since 2008, and are showing no signs of slowing down, while CD sales continue to drop year-over-year. It also doesn't hurt that Amazon's Cloud Player is available now with apps optimized for iPhone, iPad, Android via the Amazon MP3 app, and of course, Kindle Fire. Where Amazon spins AutoRip off to next is anyone's guess, but video seems like a likelier bet than cassette tapes, in our opinion.

Yeah, thanks for announcing that the day after I order an album on CD because I couldn't find out if the vinyl came with digital download. It's a gift too.

I already chatted with Representative Sruti. It will be in stock in 1-2 weeks. My dad's birthday is April 19. So I may have to take/make some gambles/returns/order cancellations. Fun!

Anyone think this is a good deal? I haven't bought anything off of Insound in awhile but...

Insound Record Club - Three-Month Subscription

Due to popular demand, we've just added a three-month option to our Insound Record Club subscriptions. What is the Insound Record Club, you might ask? Well, it's actually pretty awesome. Each month, one member of our 11-person staff chooses their favorite new record of the moment and we ship it out to you along with a note from the selector describing what they like about it.

In our office, we all take turns DJing in half-day shifts. That rules because we all get to discover or rediscover some music that might not be in our normal individual taste profiles. The Record Club kind of brings that experience to your door - it's an interesting way to build up your vinyl collection and hopefully discover some new stuff that you wouldn't otherwise have picked up.

I thought about this. But even after recently coming into inheritance money I can't justify it. It was recorded to digital, so it's basically versions of House Of Balloons and Echoes of Silence that I have to flip over three times each.

Love the Weeknd so goddamn much, though. Even if he's a total dork onstage.
1 Coachella before I got sober, 7 since. I support both versions. If you wanna do the sober version, roll with us:

    LP:
    The Strokes - Comedown Machine

I haven't heard this yet, but I'm kind of scared. Angles was pretty good, but I used to love this band so much and it's weird not getting stoked on their albums anymore.

    40. But worth it.

Went to Pomona and picked up an early RSD treat: The Three O'Clock - Live at the Old Waldorf.
Also finally got around to adding The Message to my library and picked up Cocteau Twins' Echoes in a Shallow Bay.
