I just bought The Weeknd's Trilogy on vinyl. Hand numbered, autographed, limited quantity of 500. I'm slightly regretting the impulse purchase because that shit was not cheap.

This just made my morning -

On April 20, Modular Recordings will issue Cut Copy's 2004 debut album, Bright Like Neon Love, on vinyl for the very first time. The pressing will feature new artwork designed by frontman Dan Whitford and will only be available at participating record shops.

It's like $65 per album not counting shipping. Yeesh.

$65 for that album? Good god, I feel bad for the guy. That impulse money could have bought a couple awesome wall-records at Amoeba. Instead of the Weeknd hahaha, oh man ....

Well, 3 albums you have to buy as a box, $199 before shipping. Absurd.

5.1 surround sound of the album/b-sides, music videos of the singles, and sometimes a short film about the album (I know Henry's Dream has one). So yeah the music videos are on YouTube, but not sure about the short films.

This showed up at my doorstep today:

The Men - New Moon (deluxe edition)

The screen printed outer sleeve is pretty cool (#294/350), as is the embossed wax seal they used to keep it folded around the sleeve itself - it even came with a five song EP too!

It would be way more awesome if they reissued In Ghost Colours. But that's still good news.

Did they press the EP on vinyl? The regular edition came with a CD called Campfire Sessions or something like that.

No, it's just a CD (vinyl would have been cool though!); I thought it might have just been bundled with the deluxe version but it seems it came with all purchases.

It still may not have. I bought it at Permanent records, and it was outside the shrink wrap of the LP but inside their polyvinyl bag. Could be they received a few copies and put them with the album.

my decent into aktionist music recently leaves me with little to recommend here... but this one slipped through and somehow isn't sold out yet (despite it getting rave reviews from everyone who has picked it up)... only 100 copies, perfect early morning music:

For some reason I felt the need to spend some cash on At War With The Mystics. It sounds so good. And it's nice having the nice artwork in front of me. Fuck, I love this album!

Picked up/Ordered these LPs over the week

3/10 The Men - New Moon
3/10 Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away
    3/17 Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted
    3/17 Iceage - You're Nothing

Also had mbv waiting on my porch. Sounded great but my copy was crimped and even torn on the top of the cover where the record goes in. Such bullshit.

    Question

How can I find out whether a particular vinyl release comes with a digital download or CD? It's for a gift and I'd prefer not to have to download the mp3's myself for them, but it would be a nice album to own on vinyl.

What album is it? You can probably look at the label site. If it's a band on a bigger label (Merge, Sub Pop, Matador, etc.) they will definitely have a code. Most smaller labels do as well, until you get to the smallest labels who probably don't have the resources to host the downloads or something, or just don't care about downloads.
