the reissued version of the MARS 3xcassette box set finally hit stateside. you should absolutely grab one, seeing as it is one of the coolest things that was released last year. no chance this will last long. http://www.fusetronsound.com/label.php?whomart=MARS it is a rad compilation of stuff mark dug out of old cassettes he had. mostly outtakes and weird alternate, rambling versions of songs and not songs.

damn. that was fast. looks to be sold out from all of Anomia's US distributors. you might poke around and see if any int'l ones have it. it's worth it. you'll love it.

also, email chris at fusetron and see if there are any leftovers.

So i went to such a fucking amazing store in SD over the weekend. Seriously I could have spent a couple thousand dollars. It was packed to the brim with goodies... Folk Arts Rare Records. A hole in the wall house-looking store absolutely packed with records, bursting at the seems. Stacked all different ways. Insanity. I have to go back soon. Blew my mind.

Here's what i picked up... I was overwhelmed to be honest. I have to go back without the gf soon and spend like an hour or two digging..

    Miles Davis - In Europe
    Miles Davis - Carnegie Hall
    Marvin Gaye - Midnight Love
The Manhattans - There's No Me Without You
    Prince - Alphabet St (12")
5/9 - Suishou No Fune (水晶の舟) - The Empty Gallery - HK
    6/7 - NHK'Koyxeи / Mark Fell - The Empty Gallery - HK

I've been there before! I walked away with Terry Riley - A Rainbow in Curved Air and Velvet Underground - Loaded for 12. Most things were priced as if they knew what they had, but both were first presses and shockingly cheap.

Shoot, I wish I had found a black label copy. I believe only the first press had black Reprise labels, the rest are that yellow/orange. Still, I'm not going to say no to a flawless copy for $10.

Definitely want the Sir Douglas Quintet 2x7" and that Scratch Perry 3-disc set. Also the two Newport Folk Festival sets. Fela 12" and that Grateful Dead: Rare Cuts & Oddities 1966 are intriguing.

Definitely some good stuff this year. Gonna try for that Doors/X 7", ATDI, Sonny & the Sunsets, and Van Dyke Parks reissues, and as many of the Lee Perry/Barrington Levy/Winston Edwards/Scientist/King Tubby releases as I can afford haha.

Listening to it right now. Damn this album is great. She really needs to issue her catalog on vinyl in the US, most of them have never been pressed here. I want Dry and Rid of Me badly.
