Great show last night. I was hammered. Loved the venue. Bummed I had to come home and miss Interpol.

You are on Freemont street, but you want to stay west of Las Vegas Blvd. Everything close to Bunkhouse is somewhat shady. Closer to the Freemont Experience is still walkable.

Thanks. I stayed at the D. A very easy walk. Rooms were cheap and clean and had nice views. Currently under construction though. As for Built to Spill, apparently Doug overworked himself at fyf because his voice was a little strained and he didn't sing at parts. Before Carry the Zero he asked the audience for a little help. Towards the end of the song he swiveled the microphone around and we finished the last few lines for him. So much fun.

I'm trying to pick a good weekend to fly out to Las Vegas and it has to be after May of 2015. I'm looking for any good reason to pick a certain weekend over another.

Going to Vegas for St. Vincent at the Cosmopolitan on 4/10. Looks like an unusual venue. How is it? Any practical tips?

For me the pool is annoying, you're on the roof and it's hard to get a good sight line even though the stage is raised. And the sound can get muddled plus they put the show on the giant screen and you can watch it for free from the street on the screen.

Panda Bear is playing the same night as St. Vincent at the Bunkhouse down by Fremont Street, I'll probably be at that.

The Cosmo pool is fucking awful. I'd say it's the second worst venue in town, just behind the Brooklyn Bowl.

Hopefully, the place is empty and you can grab a good spot. The Cosmo in general is really great. I'd do it up big time - get a room, hang at the pool and just enjoy yourself. The stage is really high, like 10 or more feet. Beers are like 13 bucks a pop. I wonder why the just don't hold all their shows in the Chelsea.

Rooms are $450 that night, so that's not happening. I don't really care about overpriced beer, because St. Vincent is more of a tripping balls kind of set. Any tips on grabbing a good spot up front? Basically, do people turn up early, and if so, is that the fans or just people staying at the hotel?

here's an image showing how high the stage is. i don't think this show will sell out, they're will probably be plenty of space to maneuver up front.

It's Vegas. If you show up remotely early you will be on the front rail. I don't mind seeing shows at the Cosmo Pool for that reason.

And Fuzz is right... get a room overlooking the fountains. So nice

Anyone else going to APTBS at Beauty Bar next week?

Im trying to decide if I should buy my tickets online or just get them at the door. Really don't want it to sell out on me but apparently you have to pick up tickets at their box office no later than an hour before the show starts?

that seems like a dumb policy, is that on their site? most venues let you pickup will call all the way up to the headliner time, and sometimes up to 15 min after they start.

Yeah I thought it was pretty dumb too. This is what I'm going off of:

    Ticket Delivery
All show tickets must be picked up no later than One Hour prior to Show Time, the day of the show at the casino showroom box office where the show performs. If your show ticket includes a dinner, you must pick up your show tickets Two Hours before Show Time. In the event you miss this pick up time - Tickets not picked up by this time will be forfeited. Forfeited tickets are non-refundable. Upon completion of online ticket order, you will be sent, by email, a confirmation of your purchase. You must take the email confirmation, which contains your unique confirmation code, to the casino showroom box office to exchange for show tickets. Person ordering the tickets must be the person picking up the tickets with photo identification, unless they have been purchased as a gift. In the event this is a gift for someone, please make sure they bring proper photo identification which matches the name you insert as gift person on the final check out page.

I just got a ticket to St. Vincent. I kinda hate hate the cosmo pool but I've wanted to see her live for a really long time. I've only seen one show at the Brooklyn Bowl but I thought it was awesome. What makes it the worst venue in town?

I would say 1. Bad sound system. Nothing makes a concert more horrible than when you can't clearly hear the music. (Thomas & Mack)
    2. Parking. If I miss the band/performer I want to see because I had to walk 3 miles to get the venue. (House of Blues)
    3. Douchbags. 'Nuff said. (Cosmo,Beauty Bar, etc. however, it's Vegas, they're everywhere.)
    4. Money grab. I hate any venue that thinks they'll make millions just because it may be the cool thing to do. (Any mega-club e.g. Haakasan, Marquee, etc. and Rock in Rio venue.)

As for spots that I like...Brooklyn Bowl, Bunkhouse, Life is Beautiful, EDC, Punk Rock Bowling festival, etc.

They oversell the place and the site lines become impossible. I think the open plan allows them to merge all the occupants from the restaurant, bowling alley and bar into the concert venue area. Hopefully it never becomes a real life safety issue. Might not be an issue for reasonably sold shows, but good luck if it's sold out.

So, of course the Brooklyn Bowl booked Robert Plant. I bought tickets, but I truly hope it's not a gigantic cluster fuck like Jack White was.

So there's 30 or so people in line currently to fight for rail spots. The early birds arrived at 7 a.m. That's surprisingly more hardcore than the LA shows.

And apparently at some random point, Ticketmaster had a fast pass option where people can cut the line for $10 more. It isn't on there now, or when tickets went on sale, nor an option in the presale, so no idea what the story there is.

First time at Brooklyn Bowl for modest mouse last Thursday. Nice place and all but it would sure be better if you could actually see the band. Sight lines from the back were terrible. It seemed like over half the people there had obstructed views. They tried to shove way too many people in there as well. Not going back unless things are much different.
