You wont hear it like it is and anyway ... if not the music of Coachella,
what else are you saving your ears for?

Look at the scientific and medical literature. Amplified sound exposure can cause irreparable damage to the auditory system.
I use a pair of relatively inexpensive (~$10-20) high-fidelity plugs that bring the decibel level down but maintain the integrity of the sound. You hear the whole range. At times when I remove them in the middle of a show I am shocked by how unnecessarily loud the environment gets.
It may make you look like a square to some folks but there is nothing cool about being in your 20's and having to say "What?" every other sentence.
worst, uneducated thread...

I go to shows weekly and plan to for my entire life, when your unable to hear in a few years get use to watching those badass interpreters on the stages..
Now to the people that just put foam plugs in their ears, i do feel sorry for you that must sound like mush, i got a pair of hi-fi ones on amazon for like 20 bucks shipped. There are even cheaper ones if you so desire.
I have some custom made ones that I purchased for 150 and I love them. They have lasted for years and I can hear great/enjoy the music.
Any specific recommendations, anyone? Either a link, or is this something I can find at my local Best Buy?

^didn't mean to link the large ones. you kinda have to position them right to make them work the way you want to. they can make it louder or quieter depending on how you place them in your ear.
i started to temporarily lose hearing in my right ear after every show i went to. the thought of losing my hearing scares the shit out of me. i've worn ear plugs ever since.

I really need to start.
Anyone ever seen It's All Gone Pete Tong? Great movie about hearing loss. It's fictional, but it's really awesome.

love that movie.

I should have brought business cards to Coachella, since I currently work for a hearing aid company.

Electric Daisy Carnival, in Las Vegas. http://www.electricdaisycarnival.com/LasVegas/
A crude example, but it's like Coachella but only with EDC acts from the Sahara and Mojave tents, set in Vegas. 8PM-sunrise.

One of the things I've noticed with decibel-reducing earplugs is that it reduces the crowd noise almost to oblivion. Since part of what I enjoy about the festival experience is the crowd, this took some getting used to when I first started wearing earplugs; but now it's kinda nice.![]()
From start to finish? Doubtful. But I will wear them. Depends on who is playing and how close I am to any speakers.

Sometimes I just want to be physically near the talent.

I second Etymotic Research earplugs. Very comfortable and they don't make mush out of music.
After seeing Outkast in 2001, I was deaf for three days. I vowed on that day that I would always wear earplugs. Also, I saw Outkast live.
