Why? has laid out a new set of Fall tour dates for September and October, starting in their hometown of Philadelphia and ending in Chicago with a show at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The Why? tour looks to be an informal and intimate tour, with the band playing unplugged versions of the material and opening up the floor to questions from the audience. It's the Why? interactive tour! Why not?!
Why? members Yoni Wolf, Josiah Wolf and Doug McDiarmid will take Anticon Redords labelmate Serengeti with them to open all of the shows.
"... They'll hit sit-down venues across North America, playing unplugged-type shows where they'll preview songs from their as-yet-untitled forthcoming album and give the crowd chances to ask questions," reads a report from Pitchfork.
The press release fom the band expands on that notion a bit:
"Most of the set will be previously unheard, culled from the ongoing writing and recording sessions for WHY?'s next LP, which looks to build upon the taut folk-rap and swaggerful psych-pop of 2008's Alopecia. Fan favorites, cult classics and covers are to be expected as well, alongside highlights from the band's most recent record, Eskimo Snow (2009). At each stop, the crowd will be seated, treated to behind-the-scenes jaw-jacking, and given the chance to ask questions."
