Based on that it would be 3 stages. The Arena, which is a large size area which was the main stage, the Thomas Wolfe auditorium (which connects to the arena and can be reached by indoor ramps and hallways), and the exposition area which I believe was the area underneath that they used last year to check in people's tickets, search them, etc. They are all inter connected. Last year they used tons of venues around the city for the event including the art gallery (for Brian eno's artwork), the movie theater (for live scores to movies) and various other bars, venues, auditoriums and theaters around the city and a large outdoor stage in a parking lot. It was very cool and fun walking around. I guess they wanted to localize it more. I can only assume that the other venues will either close, have separately ticketed events or something during this. I can't imagine they would shut down completely for 3 days.

As for the Thursday event I am assuming it is some act or acts that will play the Arena on Thursday. The only thing I can think is either Peter Gabriel, ELP (they said they tried to book them last year but couldn't) or David Byrne. I am just not sure

After the shows at the U.S. Cellular Center have ended, there will be separately ticketed late night performances at The Orange Peel and other venues throughout downtown Asheville. And again, when you buy a ticket for any late night event, you are guaranteed entry. Moogfest weekend pass holders will be given first crack at tickets for these shows in a special presale. You can build your own festival experience to fit your budget. You will have options. We like giving you options. Once again, the Moogfest line-up will be announced in mid-July.
    This isn't all that awful.

The previous setups sound better to me, but I will hold off on freaking out until I see the lineup. Oh and either David Byrne or Peter Gabriel for Thursday night would be awesome.

If this lineup pleases me, I'll probably do this instead of Decibel. More time to save/closer/probably cheaper overall.

    This makes me feel better

"Hey everyone! Would like to try to offer some clarity and ONE BIG CORRECTION. The correction first: as in previous years, there will be shows at other venues outside of US Cellular Center and those shows will be happening concurrently. Now for some clarity: We will be announcing the full schedule of events so that you can make your ticketing choices from the beginning. That's why we are waiting to have the full schedule together before announcing the acts. The new pricing structure will make attending Moogfest more affordable for many, while also guaranteeing admission for those who have purchased tickets to the shows at the smaller venues. As always, we're committed to creating an amazing festival experience...because we want all of you to come to Asheville and party with us! "

It doesn't sound good but I will wait and see before I make a final decision. But initially it just sounds like a pain.

This and dB are distinctly different. Lineups are nothing alike either.

Never said they were alike. Just that I'd probably make this my late year electronic music fest because I'd be way more likely to able to afford it than Decibel. I'm sure I'll end up liking Decibel's lineup in the end a whole lot better (and if this one ends up being pretty terrible, despite the last two years being really solid, I'll say nevermind to this), but in all reality, I shouldn't even be considering music festivals at all. So if I can get one or two (ATP) in late in the year to make up for everything I have to miss this summer, I'll consider myself lucky.

Okay, I am going to throw caution to the wind and trust the promoters and go! And I am going to spend an extra day or 2 just to snoop around the city.

Good Call. I'll be there too. May also have a free-ish room at the Grove Park Inn.

Sounds good! I hear Grove Park is amazing!

That new Aloft hotel will be open by then. It's by the Starwood group (W. Westin, Four Points Sheraton, etc.).

It looks like it will have a bar, venue. restaurant, etc.

I just hope there aren't more cross overs from Voodoo Music garbage dump festival.

They said support TBA for this Justice show and it's GA.

I'm going, I trust them because the line up was so good last year.

Technically Justice isn't part of the festival, it's just the Thursday show they billing as a pre party.

Plus they are announcing openers for Justice.

I do like Justice. I don't know what I was expecting for Thursday. I definitely didn't think it would be Bowie.
