Woah. Nice find, Hunter. I wonder if it's going to be different from the live toilet bed appearance. Hope so. Quite a nice lineup for such a small fest. Patti Smith, Bjork, Antony (with orchestra, it sounds like?), Tinariwen!
I think maybe main stage prop might be different (ie not a toilet bed), and the set list will be different with the newer songs, but it will probably be the same thing.
But of course, we'll just have to wait and see.
I really love JOHN live. The live drumming over the electronic beats on it really gives it some OOMPH.
And i think its neat(?) that her crew remains covered with masks even when the curtain goes up.
I remember seeing another video after the show ended and 2 of her stage hands (the ones on the side of the stage in this clip) are seen picking stuff up, still in costume. The taper filmed it from the side of the stage.
Agreed, Hunter. Loved it! She's also using her voice in ways I don't think we've quite heard before. Dare I say she sounds almost soulful at some points in the song? In the video, it's so strange how one minute things are so joyful and the next they're so morose; even ominous. The last 15-20 seconds are pretty chilling. She's quite a talented actress on top of everything else, isn't she? I have a feeling our fraggle rock friends are meant to be taken as figurative creatures rather than literal ones. I keep meaning to read the source material, but I get distracted by other books I'd rather read.
Good stuff. Video was a bit meh. Feels... decorative. We didn't really take the narrative any further here did we? Or maybe we did and I can't follow it. Not sure about this best song since "John" business, too. I think the last 3 or 4 songs have been stronger. But, I loved "Clump" and everyone else on here thought it was absolute shit as I recall.
I kinda wanted all of the songs together.
Or at the least, include JOHN and CLUMP. They are part of this current narrative and should be on there as well...
John would be a great album opener!
Oh well. Hopefully the DVD will have more than just the 9 videos.
I really don't understand the excitement. All the mp3s are available for purchase. You can burn them onto a CD if having it physical form is so important. I guess having the videos on one DVD is pretty cool, but if doesn't offer anything extra, what's the point?
