I wasn't expecting much either (visually, anyway).
I'll reserve judgment til I see more videos. Voice sounds good, though.

I hope that if they do make their way to Coachella next year (as they fuckin ought to), they will have a more elaborate live show.
But then.. I only saw a 1:30 clip of one song. So what do I know?

uh-mazing!
I think they just need to spruce it up a bit by the time they do their next show. Not sure how. It's missing something...not sure what exactly.
I like that the camera man is dancing too, essentially a character in his own right.

I was wondering why in this clip there were 3 men standing still off in the corner.
They help her get changed off stage and help move stuff around.

Can't say I'm surprised that this is all a bit lackluster live, though. This live performance stands in stark contrast to the fully produced videos and the former forest concert. The video series had such a strong narrative. Yeah, it took us a while to figure out that it was all tied to that obscure folklore of the mandrake plant with allusions to environmentalism and sci-fi, etc. but it was all there.
I didn't think this would be great, but I am a tiny bit surprised at just how dull it looks. Those prior videos were just expertly shot and edited. The camera was as much a character as Jonna was and without it everything becomes rather static. And I tend to disagree with you guys. I don't think it's about the starkness of the stage. If she had a huge budget for some massive set with crazy mandrake plants and boys-kings hanging from the proscenium dripping semen into buckets it still wouldn't work. That would just be decoration. Rock (I know I'm using that term way too broadly) concerts are largely presentational. She's taken a sprawling cinematic narrative and tried to adapt it to a traditional concert setting while remaining in character and it just doesn't work. The lyrics are rather abstract so they can't work as theatre or opera. It was the visuals in the video that really told the story and the lyrics just commented on them or supported them. Without the visual structure or the ability to create a narrative on stage it just... kind of falls apart.
I don't like the music any less. I'd actually love to hear these songs live and would happily go pay to see her, but I doubt iamamiwhoami has a huge future as a concert artist. Am I wrong, hunter?

I have to agree. This doesn't make me want to run out and see her live. Maybe walk out.
I echo most of what you said.
But yes, I hope that maybe between now and the next show they do, they take the time to see what worked and what didn't and maybe build on that.
And yeah, I didn't think a recreation of the IN CONCERT movie would have been necessary, or appropriate even. Wish there was more than the toilet paper bed, though.
Judging by what I've seen, it's almost like her character is doing this live show just as a means of pleasing her ...followers? Can't think of a better word for what I'm looking for.
I mean, the band and handlers and camera man are are all covered up, so its almost like this is an extension of the videos.
Anyhow, I can't wait for the next video! Hopefully it will be the new song they did at the gig.

People are saying the answers are probably lyrics to other songs.

Jesus. NSFW much?
I miss talking to TomAz.
We all do. I live in the same city as him (unless he relocated) and rumor has it that at 3:15am if you listen closely and its really really quiet you can hear him telling you to go fuck yourself.
^hahaha
I'm on my work laptop, but I'm not on the VPN. I'm good, right?
Um, yeah, that's quite an... "interview" isn't it?
More videos soon, hopefully.

I was surprised not to see them on the lineup. Well, sort of. I know they don't really tour, etc.. but I assumed Coachella would snatch them up. Here's hoping for an add.
About fucking time.
Literally was just having John and Clump on repeat today.
This doesn't appear to be the unknown song they performed live at that festival that I've been waiting for, but anyway. Look forward to the next vid.
Ooh neat.
I hope the next full video won't be too far behind, since it's on sale soon.
