The only thing I've really gotten into from Blackest Ever Black was that Raime album. It took me a second to get into that cuz I lumped it in with a bunch of other dark ambient stuff I listen to, but the weight and depth of it finally sunk in. Vinyl helped
Where do you recommend I go next with the Blackest Ever stuff?
1 Coachella before I got sober, 7 since. I support both versions. If you wanna do the sober version, roll with us:

Have you listened to the new Prurient album out on the label? So good.
Thought you'd enjoy it.
Re: blackest ever black, raime, prurient, tropic of cancer, silent servant all seem like plausible fyf acts. I'd be thrilled to see some of them booked.
Nice. So looking forward to that.
New E.R.P. (Convextion) is pretty tasty:
Also that John Swing RA was groovy as hell, probably should be in the house thread but fuck it you'll all enjoy it

That release as well as the new Demdike Stare are both quite good, Modern Love has really been doing it for me this year.

What's the deal with F8 (SF)? Good space? Might buy a flight up there to see Convextion on Friday.
waka waka
it's ok. sf has better, as you well know. soundsystem in the front room is adequate (i assume acid test will use the front room rather than the back). imo, the space would be much improved by a reorientation of the dj booth from one end to the other though that might pose problems related to efficient ingress/egress to/from the back.
that said, your night won't be intolerably compromised by the venue
should it prove wanting ... daniel maloso and hieroglyphic being (both live) at monarch or vereker at slate (hearing great things about vereker, think you'd enjoy that)
Edit: Heidi may have something more informative to say on the subject of F8

Yea, I've been going there a lot due to friends using the venue for their shows. I no longer have an issue with the layout in terms of dance floor space (there are obstacles where there should be a dance floor - from the move of the DJ booth from the side to the front) -- it's almost never crowded enough for that to really be an issue. There are sound issues at most shows there but it's OK when you're in the front half of the room, especially on the right side.
I'm thinking about going to that show but it will be a game time decision. Convextion is definitely in the front room.
Hmm alright, that doesn't sound too bad. Round trip fare is ~$400 at the moment which is ridiculous so I'll probably wait a few days to see if prices come down. Jamal is also playing a Nuit Noire underground here on Saturday, so I have options. Convextion is a personal favorite though with an elusive touring schedule, wish this was an easier decision--first world problems.
Thanks for the info.

Recondite in Detroit was one of the absolute best live PAs I've ever heard. That guy is truly gifted. I don't think it got recorded but here's another live set of his that's very good:

Just had a big techno weekend in Berlin and while I knocked an item off my bucket list, I can't help but feel sad that it may be a long time, if ever, that I will experience techno in a similar environment again. Also, as much as Berghain is an institution for techno and all its lore and deservingly so, I actually enjoyed Stattbad more. While both had foreigners and granted I am one of them as well, it was less apparent at Stattbad. Berghain was intense as it should be but I liked the more intimate feel of Stattbad slightly more. Both had great crowds though and the music kept me going until the afternoon. Lungs hate me now though. Ok /unsolicited review.
Wow, man....who did you see at both places? I wonder if I'll ever make it to Berlin.

Okay, I'm going to pick your brain in Barcelona next week, as I'm headed to Berlin on the 17th. I'm going to try for a night/next day at Berghain / panorama bar just for the experience, but am more looking forward to about blank. Thinking of going to kater holzig too, Alland and Kenneth Scott are playing there, and while I've seen them enough times, I really want to check out that place.
Edit: I am FUCKING GIDDY about seeing Morphosis, Karenn, and Raime in the next two weeks.
I'm so jealous. I need some techno....maybe I should hit up Cut Hands at Complex on Saturday.

Uhm, you should definitely do that. Cut Hands was the best show I saw at dB last year. So good.
