Very excited to hear these are coming/have arrived. Will check out Erase Errata's new one tomorrow and am excited for a new Six Organs record, especially since he's been doing stuff with the guys from Comets On Fire again.

The songs I've heard from the Six Organs record are incredible...he's playing the Echo on Friday and just those 3 songs have sold me on the show.
    4/01 - David Lynch - Ace
    4/05 - A Winged Victory for the Sullen - El Rey (?)
4/08 - Drive Like Jehu - Glass House
    4/13 - Luna - Echo
    4/14 - Ride - Fox

Agreed. They really upped their songwriting on this one.

Glad I'm seeing Natalie Prass on more lists. I was ready to toss her aside at first but the record was too interesting and I listened to it 3 times in a row after my first listen. Pretty much, a fucking 1940s Disney song ends it and I love it. I look forward to the Matthew E. White record.

I can't believe how good 2015 is so far. I haven't followed music super closely for very long, but judging from the current releases + what's coming down the pipe for the rest of the year and I think this might be the best year of music I've experienced since maybe 2008?

It has indeed been a fantastic year. I was mostly disenchanted with new music last year for whatever reason, but I have found so much stunning stuff already in 2015. Not just high profile/hyped stuff either, though those exist.

2009 was one of those watershed years, but yeah, 2006-2008 were three years where a wide variety of great acts were putting out great records, regardless of genre or amount of recognition they received. This is starting out like that. Lots of exciting shit coming out of very different fields.

You electronic folks, help me out. I'd love to hear some of the killer new shit from this year and have no idea where to start.

I'm hardly electronic folk, but there have been some wonderfully dancey EPs released this year that I've loved:

    Dan Lissvik - Shuvit!
Dan Shake - Out of Sight
    Dude Energy - Dude Energy
    4/01 - David Lynch - Ace
    4/05 - A Winged Victory for the Sullen - El Rey (?)
4/08 - Drive Like Jehu - Glass House
    4/13 - Luna - Echo
    4/14 - Ride - Fox

Is there a particular kind of bleepy-bloopy music you're drawn to? Given your love for metal you may like Claude Speeed's Sun Czar Temple EP which I mentioned in the albums thread last week.

It's also been nice to see so many updates to lists, although having come up with the idea, and with only 2 albums listed & no updates since January, Mitch really needs to step up his game.

Bryan, you should check out Helena Hauff's A Tape (footixy grouped it). Tons of great fuzzy acid-electro on there.

3/30: White Fence, Twerps @ Bottom of the Hill
3/31: Public Service Broadcasting @ DNA Lounge
4/6: Hookworms, Disappears @ The Rickshaw Stop
4/8: Drive Like Jehu @ The Glass House
    4/9-12: Coachella
    4/17: Swans, Angel Olsen
    4/24-26: Stagecoach

Levon Vincent's self titled and Zenker Brothers's Immersion are two of the more popular albums released this year on the electronic front that can be enjoyed beyond the dance floor. More of a fan of the former then the latter. I would also recommend Dasha Rush's Sleepstep if you are interested in some soothing soundscapes with a techno base.

EPs that I think that are also worth checking out:
Kassem Mosse/Simone White - Three Versions
    Nathan Fake - Glaive
Route 8 - This Raw Feeling
    Roman Flugel - Sliced Africa

Glad you like it! It's definitely not doing anything particularly new, but if we're not going to hold that against the Colleen Green album (which I like a lot), I figure it applies to this one, too. If you like Echodrone, Wildhoney's Sleep Through This and Pinkshinyultrablast's Everything Else Matters tread similar ground. I'm not sure either one will be in my Top 20 at year's end, but they fit the bill for the winter months.

EDIT: Actually, saying those two albums tread similar ground is A) not entirely accurate, and B) not likely to entice new listeners. So: Wildhoney is probably a little closer to the My Bloody Valentine school of shoegaze, and with a female vocalist there's some shades of Lush in their sound. Pinkshinyultrablast has some electronic flourishes and leans more toward Cocteau Twins-style dreampop, if Cocteau Twins had some groove and edge to them.

Yeah, that Pinkshinyultrablast album is great. And agreed on Colleen, haha.

Thanks for the ep recs, will check those out. I also think that Sleepstep is a great album - tracks are varied and interesting making it a very nice listen.

For heavier bass and techno sound, I am enjoying Killawatt's Émigré.
