Updated poster. DIOYY canceled due to family emergency. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah added as a replacement.
Also, YACHT added, Jason Bentley, Classixx, Tennis System, Horray For Earth, American Royalty, The Postelles, and a few more. A lot of leftovers from the other festivals; not all bad for those who didn't catch some of these acts already or the die hards, and it's still only $20...
They say there's a major announcement coming today. I think it's the schedule, since it says "Days, Times and awesome details at culturecollide.com" on the new poster.
Looks like the street fest exclusives will be CYHSY, Datarock, Gang Gang Dance, Chico Mann, Chad VanGaalen, and Gary War. They're giving a lot of the best stuff away for free again!
There's also a photography exhibit being featured:
Adding to the already impressive line-up and fun activities like the "Pin It To Win It" challenge, the 2011 FILTER Magazine's Culture Collide Festival will now be hosting a four-day art exhibit, curated by The Lucie Foundation.
The exhibit is called Composition: Visual Notes on Music, will be hosted inside a "Pop-up" gallery and it will pay tribute to the international origins of the festival's artists. The gallery will include images from well-known artists like the Snorri Brothers and MOBY, as well as local and influential artists like B+ and Lauren Dukoff. There will also be images remembering Amy Winehouse. The gallery will feature approximately 40 pieces in all; select pieces will also be for sale.
The four-day exhibit will be held during FILTER Magazine's Culture Collide Festival Oct. 6-9 at the ReForm Academy at 1815 W. Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026.

HOORAY FOR EARTH!
Hmm i will have to work thursday night but the schedule may determine if i go again this year or not.

8/7/16 - Sufjan Stevens @ Hollywood Bowl // 8/8/16 - Radiohead @ Shrine // 8/8/16 - Boris @ Regent
9/14/16 - Wilco @ Theatre at Ace Hotel // 9/18/16 - Kraftwerk @ Hollywood Bowl
Was pissed about Sunset Junction, bummed I couldn't make it to the rescheduled show that weekend, glad I finally get my chance!
Fuuuuuhhh. I just realized my friend wants to go to Vegas for her 21st birthday the same weekend. I think I might not be able to go again. dam.
So The Echo and Echoplex are creating some events on facebook giving us a peak at the schedule (and apparently selling tickets to the shows themselves out of of the fest too)
THURSDAY
Echo: HANDSHAKES / GUINEAFOWL / RAINBOW ARABIA / LIAM FINN / DJ LARRY
FRIDAY
Echoplex: THE ASTEROIDS GALAXY TOUR / THE MORNING AFTER GIRLS / THE GIFT / HANDS

The Echo's ticket links just take you to the Culture Collide ticket page. The Form Academy event was created by He's My Brother She's My Sister's manager, so I assume it's accurate. I'm not sure what the holdup is on the schedule from FILTER, but there are definitely some days & times leaking out there. If there are any more before it drops I'll list them on Songkick so they're searchable under 'Culture Collide'.
The OCD comes in handy for that kind of thing...
I got confused when i was originally writing the post because there is an event at the Echo on Friday ngiht of the event that is Cybmals Eat Guitars and Hooray For Earth, but that appears to not be a part of Culture Collide and does have its own tickets. However, Hooray For Earth was just added to the poster, so either that show will become part of the fest, or HFE shows up elsewhere during the weekend, or they're not part of the fest at all. They're on the poster but I didn't see them in the actual list of bands on the website.
Anyway, with the sheer amount of venues and bands participating, I'm sure schedulign this thing is a bit of a nightmare and we're still 3 weeks out.

looks like the Rapture will be doing some sort of Dj set... appologies if thats been discussed, just got the email.
edit: looks like their performance is exclusively at the Culture Collide kick off party. Which is a seperate invite.

Oh yeah, they did that last year too, at the Standard. it was easy to get an invite though.

The block party is open to the public, separate from festival admission. however, last year admission included priority entry to the block party.

everyone just walked up to the block party. there was a spot for you to give them youre RSVP's ticket printout, but they weren't really checking. i'll still RSVP just in case but should be easy to get into.
The Block party was the only part of the fest i didn't attend last year. I was exhausted after 3 days starting from the happy hours and going all night Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. there was nothing that seemed at capacity or hard to get into at any point though.
EDIT: oh, i also didn't end up going to the Standard pre-party on wednesday, though I had no problem getting my rsvp confirmation for it.

It may very well be the same way this year, but since last year was the first and no one had heard of this festival at that time, I'd probably recommend RSVPing if you have any desire to go. It costs nothing but an email address (and a sheet of paper,) and you could just make one up if you REALLY didn't want to give them your real one for some reason.
And yes, the festival wristband will get you into the block party, even into a "priority viewing area."
Last year I went to the block party and not only was there nobody at the gate but when I found someone they didn't want the ticket.
it was the easiest thing I've ever gotten into.
All events are on Songkick now too, in case anyone uses their calendar for planning
(for me, it's essential to keep track of shows; even more so with this event)

Festivities kick-off in earnest today! I think I'm going to go see the Fishbone and Serge Gainsbourg docs before I head over to ReForm for Lindstrom. Showing up a full set early would be enough to make sure one gets in before capacity is reached, right?
So THIS looks like the final word.
I'm getting there a little late tonight. Probably around 10:30. I'll be flying solo since my girlfriend will be at the Enrique Iglesias concert with her family for her mom's birthday. We're all missing the show of the year.Dear festival goer -
