I was really just trying to say something misogynistic : )
shes always late, and thinks shes a diva.
Everyone's a Photographer
I just saw her play this past Saturday here in Portland. It was awesome. She played a great set; pretty much most every song I wanted to hear her preform. Her voice is still spectacular and she can still flow like crazy.
Also, she wasn't late or anything like that. Played for a while too, about an hour and a half. It was very satisfying.
THAT IS FUCKING FANTASTIC!
I'm confident she has her shit together for this performance. I just hope she doesn't conflict with the Chemical Brothers or some other must see shit but she's pretty high on my list. Notice the press doesn't report on her great performances, they focus on the controversy of course.
this is one act i'm definitely not going to be upset if i miss. if i catch her, i catch her..but she was recently here in philly and absolutely bombed. it was at a great smaller venue too, which i thought would have been a great place to see her but she was pretty awful. stunned a lot of people. hoping she's got her shit together but not counting on it.
Great review from Tampa/ybor a couple weeks ago.

Known for hitting the stage late, sometimes well past midnight, Hill bucked the trend and was poised behind the mic by 11:30 p.m. Sure, she spent a few minutes sound-checking; hell, she even “complained” about the lighting a few times. But what her fans ultimately witnessed once she got started was an artist finding her footing once again.
Oooh and the critics were silienced!
Top 5 set for me. Loved it.
Wait, were we watching the same thing? Because here's what I saw:
1-about 25 minutes late in a 50 minute slot
2-band played some random mixes without her (Aerosmith?)
3-Lauren Hill comes out and complains that her mic isn't loud enough and repeatedly asks for them to turn it up
4-Lauren Hill acts surprised that turning it up turning it up turning it up resulted in feedback, won't sing until they fix it
5-20 to 30 minutes of good singing
Despite all that, her voice sounded amazing. I'm still glad I got to see her do some of the songs I loved in high school. But one of the best acts of the weekend? Absolutely not.
It's called making an entrance, it's fairly common, everyone from Prince to Erykah Badu does this.2-band played some random mixes without her (Aerosmith?)
An artist asking to have her mic turned up doesn't ruin a set for me.3-Lauren Hill comes out and complains that her mic isn't loud enough and repeatedly asks for them to turn it up
Which took a grand total of what? 20 seconds?4-Lauren Hill acts surprised that turning it up turning it up turning it up resulted in feedback, won't sing until they fix it
who was better lauryn hill or badu? i only saw badu and she was freakin great
Stevie Wonder, Jurassic 5!!, Magnetic Man, Pogo, Tycho, Tears for Fears 2013
Street Scene 07,08,09
Rock the Bells 07
Biggest surprise of the weekend, she was lucid, in good spirits, and was spitting rhymes like it was '98.
I saw both, Badu was much better...but Hill was suffering from sound issues.
She did sound hoarse but it was a good energetic performance.
Nice that Sunset hit around the time she went into "Ex-Factor."

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by L Boogie
She was really good
hell yeah magmazing... such a great moment.
I like Erika Badu's style of singing. She sort sound like Billie Holiday but with soul.
i enjoyed the set, but her voice definitely wasn't up to par. but she did better than i feared, not quite as good as i'd hoped.
and i hate that remix of lost ones. the original beat is soooooooooo much better. why ruin a perfectly danceable song?
my favourite part was when she did a few bars of "i'll fly away" though; that was great
