Ms. Hill may be 2011's version of Sly Stone. I'm looking forward to it!
I will be far far away from whatever stage she does or doesn't show up to.
What is the guessing for her lateness? I will take 38 minutes
i caught her mid set at RTB here in cali, and she seemed to finish really strong.. idk. Seems like a total crap shoot what w/ all the videos ive been watching. Lets just hope she brings it, bearing any conflicts ill catch her again.

This is the Lauryn I want to see!
An afternoon set on the Outdoor Theater would be the best spot for her. Sunset would be nice, too.
fuckin' with the lights on
I could see an outdoor set a la M. Ward in 09.
fuckin' with the lights on
With the negative ways her audiences are reacting toward her (booing, etc) and her comments about already being tired of playing the same stuff every night, I would be very surprised if she's still on the poster come April. She already seems ready to call this tour quits.
I say that with sadness because I'd love to see her, but I'm pretty sure she'll either drop off the poster early or possibly even worse for us, come on really late/fuck up set times of others, etc.
I am so torn on this, because on one hand a Lauryn Hill set where she is on top of her game would be just about the sickest thing all weekend. However, I've heard so much negativity about her recent performances before I even stepped on this board.
Generally what I've heard is that she's sped up and "remixed" a lot of her songs, and that the first 2/3 of her set is terrible. She apparently gives the last few songs (Ex-Factor, Doo Wop, Fugees hits) a solid rendition at the very end. So I may try to make my way over for the end of her set, but like as others said it's almost an impossibility that she will start anything close to her set time.
On paper she looks amazing for Coachella, but I'm afraid in reality it will be a shitshow (and not even one with comedic value like Sly Stone).
Lauryn Hill is this years Sly Stone.
You all have officially been warned.
love c
The Glitter Freeze
Coachella 99-10 Vet, the run has ended in 2011
hill was completely ehhh at rtb
She is terrible live. Do you guys remember a while back when she quoted in and interview "that she would rather her baby starve than to have a white person buy her album"?
i was pretty stoked when i saw her name on the list but im only gonna stop by and if she's entertaining and sounds good ill stay if not ill just move along to the next stage.
She was definitely my least favorite act at RTB last year. So boring & didn't even perform Doo Wop.

She's a total 1D20. I want to hate, but she has the potential to display pure genius, but I doubt it.
She has this song called "Damnable Heresies" that she was supposed to perform at the BET Awards when the Fugees reunited that's pretty epic. It's like 10+ minutes. Here's a crappy live version...
This is a fun one from the soundtrack of the animated penguin movie "Surf's Up"
Sorry to bust any bubbles but she isn't that good anymore. If you are expecting to hear the old Lauryn Hill, she doesn't exist anymore. Tempo is completely different and you can't really recognize the old stuff. To get an idea go to youtube and check her out at Rock The Bells. Thats were I saw her and was sadly disappointed.
