LOL you seem to know so much about the old school DJ's and EDM acts but you have to ask if Leftfield is supposed to be good? Good fucking lord.....
By the way, Hardcore blows... that's why it disappeared several years ago. It's nowhere to be found in this part of the world.
1. I was being sarcastic
2. Really? Hardcore is huge. It's huge in teh UK, Europe, Spain have their own take on it, (Makina), it's evident in different forms, Freeform, UK hardcore, gabba, hard style, hardcore breaks etc etc etc.
3. Still played at squat parties throughout the world.
4. ....erm the Melbourne shuffle? Wasnt influenced by listening to Leftfield mate
Listening to their album Leftism for the first time and LOVING it. This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I want to be seeing/listening to in the desert come April. Will be investigating more of these guys for sure!
I like a lot of what I've heard except the tracks with the guy MCing. Leftfield incorporates the things I love about dub reggae and merge them beautifully with a foot stomping dirty techno sound but, they've also taken the things I dislike about reggae and MCing that offsets the awesomeness. For me, if they didn't have that guy out there going "Pop! Pop! Wha! Pop! Wha! Wha! Wha! Can you hear me?" this would be all sorts of win.
It's only Neil Barnes playing as Leftfield. Paul Daley decided to not to do the reunion tour in 2010..he didn't mention not playing in 2011, though. Either way it'll be great to hear some Leftfield in the desert.
It is not just Neil Barnes that is playing, he has a whole band with him. I saw them play at a couple of European festivals and they were amazing. The new drummer is wicked.
