It veered a bit heavy into hippie territory for my taste...
Ah. Last time I saw them they played 3-4 new songs... sounded like they were heading in a different direction. What are your thoughts on their newest EP?
GANG GANG DANCE
LEE SCRATCH PERRY
ARIEL PINK'S HAUNTED GRAFFITI
MEAT PUPPETS performing Up On The Sun
THE FROGS performing It's Only Right & Natural
THE BROTHERS UNCONNECTED
SUBLIME FREQUENCIES DJs + Films
I don't recognize many other names on the line-up. Anything in particular I should check out?
Broadcast are a really big deal. They are an amazing band and incredible live. Definitely should check them out. Vladislav Delay is a great electronic act as well.
Uh, you guys never heard of the Meat Puppets? I take it you're not Nirvana fans then? ... Unplugged.
Anyway, they're fucking awesome. All of their albums are good and I've seen them twice and both times they were the real deal holyfield.
I don't think either of them were referring to the Meat Puppets. They might have fit into the "many," but I kinda doubt it.
Yeah, I was referring to the more "obscure" names. I've seen the Meat Puppets a couple of times, actually.
Oh. Also check out Group Doueh. They are sublime frequencies band from the sahara. All that sublime frequencies stuff rules pretty hard if you are into world music in general.
Oh my bad. I thought you said "any" instead of "many."
Dude, check out that Frogs album if you don't know it already. It's acoustic-ish joke-ish songs ripping on gay stereotyping by blowing it up to its excesses. There's also a famously not good drum break from it that Beck once sampled and lauded on a hit song.

James Blake's first concert footage.
so I've only listened once, but the James Blake rules really hard. even the things I don't like about it seem to get spun in really interesting ways. i think it starts off stronger than it ends, but I need to process it a bit more.
Yeah, it turned out precisely like I had hoped it would. "I Never Learnt to Share" becomes absolutely scorching at the end.
Listening to Asobi Seksu's Fluoresence. This is the first time i've ever listened to them. Musically i quite like it, but i find the singer annoying in every conceivable way. I think i would be hard-pressed to listen to this again.

Drinky, you should listen to Citrus.
nah, don't waste your time Drinkey. it will give you the same reaction. i felt that same way about Citrus (as you did about Fluoresence) when it came out. i gave the new one another shot the other day, but it was more of the same.
You don't listen to Asobi Seksu for Yuki's voice. You listen because you want to fuck her. Or at least that's what Boourns told me.
I really like the use of autotune on the first track of James blakes album. It sounds to me like his voice is fighting being placed into perfect alignment by the autotuning and is cracking from the strain. It's really odd and a bit grating yet is pretty perfect for the song, I think.
