Did anyone take a picture of the booth from the main stage that read, "Cigarettes, Candy...And More?"

No, though I heard a lot of people talking about people getting busted by the beatport stage. There seemed to be more security & cops concentrated in that area than anywhere else I was in the fest for whatever reason.

Yes, I grabbed my books. Thank you!

"for whatever reason" . . . Probably because the Beatport stage is pretty much DEMF's version of the drug bridge at the Gathering Of The Juggalos.

Looks like the promoter is trying to make amends for the issues with Rare Form:
    http://www.facebook.com/events/36121...94259060615228

Refunds being offered, or ticket(s) to Spring Awakenings, or guest list for another of their shows.

Yes, it was oversold, ticket holders were not allowed in (even though they told they should have entrance until 1:30AM), people were waiting outside for hours, once people got in, they couldn't actually get to the room where the more notable acts were playing. I'm glad I didn't try to go - had gotten a few texts saying it was impossible, so we just waited and went to KMS instead.

It seems to happen with at least one event every year. Nice that they are trying to do something to make up for it.

You have your ways of enjoying the festival weekend.

    We have our ways.

I can't imagine missing KMS though. I wished I'd gotten there earlier.

I kind of do too. But I REALLY needed that time to normalize a little, so thank you for sticking around. Besides, if we would have went as hard as we did at KMS for a couple of extra hours, Old Miami very well might not have happened. I couldn't believe I had 3 hours of hardcore raging in me that night.

I believe Alison said that they had taken all their top acts like Maceo Plex, Damian Lazarus, etc. and put them on the patio in the back and the only way you could get out there was if you were VIP which was news nobody found out about until you got to the door. And then they wanted some absurd amount of money for VIP like $60 or $100 or something.

Yea, that's what I heard from others as well. IIRC, it was the roof/patio? Maybe not. (It was in the same venue as Shit Show - I'm pretty sure the area people couldn't get to was the patio, since you can only get there by passing through the other rooms). The capacity for the upstairs room is very small, so I'm guessing that they were concerned about how packed that room would get with people trying to make their way to the patio. (I have heard from a few people that the patio wasn't very crowded). That's only second hand info though.

Definitely a poor choice of venue for a lineup with that much broad appeal.

I am blaming Magda. :P Remember before the fest I was saying I would not buy tickets to after parties where Magda was playing because they would end up being oversold and you wouldn't get? Well, there you have it. Magda.

I have to admit that coming home at 7 in the morning to see everyone sleeping and Law and Order SVU on the TV was very comforting. I was happy to see that I would not have to turn the TV on and wake someone up, and, I couldn't imagine a better show to have on.

I only caught half of an episode on the very last morning after taking a break from an intense DJ Xanax ambient chill wave set and I giggled with delight.

I though you left us to join the detroit christian raver scene.

I'm adding a new place to the list of places where I enjoy techno the most.

    1. Deserts
    2. Airplane hangers
    3. Warehouses

    and now....

    4. The Bunker

I've never seen anything like that. Me and Daniel went down there during Carlo Lio and it blew me away literally. I'm assuming it's the acoustics of a concrete floor, concrete walls, and concrete ceiling but when that bass hits and it pushes the air all around you? It just feels so good. I loved it.

Dopplereffekt was the only full set I caught down there - def. the shit. I was SUPER excited to see Juan Atkins there but sadly he was having a ton of trouble with his records/hardware/something and the copious (2-3 per song) blips inspired an early exit. It totally threw off the groove. Dude stepped back from the decks a few times with hands up in frustration. Not sure what the issue was, but that was the only bummer of the weekend.

We got there just before 7AM, had to wait about 15-20 minutes, it was fairly empty at first but who cares? I didn't mind having the roof mostly to myself and my friends for Daniel Bell's set. It filled up a lot after an hour or two. I actually really appreciated their scheduling, since I could do that party from around 7AM-1PM and still see everything I wanted at the fest. When the lineup was originally posted, I'd assumed I would have to miss a bunch of the fest to see Bell, so it was a pleasure to see he asked to play at 7AM

Please see the first paragraph of my post.... I saw the schedule too and was like shit, I have something to do Sunday morning and already bought a pre-sale....Their scheduling was pretty good otherwise. It's just that my scheduling doesn't work out. So I'll take the blame. One of these years I am clearing my schedule and doing this festival and it's numerous parties some justice!
