i know they said in an interview that doing mainly dj sets for the last year allowed them to really dive in to the studio and do the delicacies stuff, but can we hope for a live set with all the new material. that'd be the best and likely ready in time for mid april.
I can't tell if this is good or bad news.
SMD are playing in LA a month before Coachella, which could potentially take them out of the running for the 2011 lineup. But this also means that they are touring the US generally around the same time as Coachella, so that is good I guess.
Years in attendance: '07, '08, '09, '10
2010 > 2007 >> 2008 >>> 2009
mixed feelings as well
Beth Ditto's solo album produced my SMD.
Heres the preview.
100% agree, those pink neon fluro lights were great when I saw them in 2009
Just bought my tix to HARD Weekend at the Fox in Oakland. This will be my 4th time seeing SMD live and by far the largest venue...super stoked.
10/29 Hot Chip @ The Fox Theatre
11/07 Rufus Du Sol @ The Mezzanine (?)
11/13 Mr Little Jeans @ The Rickshaw Stop
11/20 Keep Shelly in Athens @ Awaken
Not sure how I feel about this one. I love Beth Ditto, I love Simian Mobile Disco, I loved Cruel Intentions... but something just doesn't seem to be coming together here. The only thing that jumps out to me is I Wrote The Book...
I mean, Cruel Intentions was a pretty chilled tune in comparison to some of their other stuff too... but it was still fantastic. I don't know. Just odd.
Either way, I'd be happy to see SMD at Coachella, either live or DJ... both are a lot of fun and really entirely different beasts.

A DJ set would be amazing, they blew me away at Lolla 09.
I have no idea why I waited so long to get their new album. Its incredibly good.
