WILD HORSES: During his recent press junket promoting Life, Keith Richards had no definitive answer to the constant questions about the Rolling Stones’ touring plans, but something was then in the process of going down, whether he knew about it (likely) or not. We’ve just learned that the Stones team is very close to finalizing a deal that would bring them to Coachella next April. According to our sources, they’ll pick up a cool $5 million for playing the date; Paul McCartney pocketed $3.5 million for playing Coachella in 2009. This is the biggest booking coup yet for Coachella kingpin Paul Tollett, whose fest has served as a launch pad for numero

Rolling Stones Not Playing Coachella 2011
11/18/2010 9:23 AM ET
(RTTNews) - Representatives for the Rolling Stones have shut down rumors that the band will headline next year's Coachella Music Festival.
The rumor first popped up on HitsDailyDouble.com, where anonymous sources said the rock legends had accepted $5 million to perform at the event. When asked by Examiner.com about the rumor, the band's publicist said: "To the best of my knowledge, the rumor is not true."
This is not the first time the Stones have been linked to the summer fest, as they were also rumored for an appearance in 2010. Next year's Coachella Music festival will take place April 15 through April 17 in Indio, California.
And though Stones fans may miss the group at Coachella next year, the band will be featured this Thanksgiving holiday on VH1, VH1 Classic, and Palladia. The three networks will show a selection of Rolling Stones documentaries for three days starting on November 24.

Rolling Stones headlining Coachella 2011: rumor 'not true,' says the band's rep
November 16th, 2010 10:22 am ET.
The Rolling Stones' publicist is denying a rumor that the band is close to signing a deal to headline the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in 2011. As previously reported, the rumor first appeared on the HitsDailyDouble website, which claimed that unnamed sources said that the Stones were in negotiations to perform at Coachella 2011 for a supposed $5 million fee. The 2011 Coachella Fest is set to take place April 15, April 16, and April 17 in Indio, California.
When I asked the Rolling Stones' publicist for a comment on this report, she told me, "To the best of my knowledge," the rumor is "not true."
It seems like every week there is a new report or rumor that the Rolling Stones will play somewhere in 2011. The Stones/Coachella rumor isn't new. A rumor started in 2009 that the Stones might be playing the 2010 edition of Coachella. (It never happened.)
In early November 2010, the band's press office issued a statement saying that there are "no concrete plans" for the band to have a new album and tour in 2011. The band's most recent studio album is 2005's Grammy-nominated "A Bigger Bang." The subsequent tour for the album lasted from 2005 to 2007.
At this point, what has been confirmed (according to what Rolling Stones guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have said in interviews) is the Rolling Stones will hold a summit in December 2010 to discuss the band's future plans.
Given how much time and effort that the Stones put into preparing for their concerts, it would seem very rushed for them to perform at a major event like Coachella less than five months after that meeting. Wherever the Rolling Stones choose to perform their first concert since 2007, it will most likely be in a setting that is very much a Rolling Stones setting, not a festival where they are one of many acts on the bill.

Believe what you want and yes the articles are very similar but not exactly the same.
One of my co workers said they heard something from Sal Sorinksy (sp?) saying the Stones turned it down because it wasn't enough money between all of them. I can't find a link to that article.
Thank god they won't be there. Opens a spot for a good headliner.
April 24 - Queens of the Stone Age
April 26-28 - Levitation
They want more than $5 mil? Fuck the Rolling Stones then. Spread that money around for the undercard.
I mean, I think they would be a great choice as a headliner, even if I might not see them, but how much fucking money do those greedy old fucks really need?
Edit: and obviously the money figures are speculation, but if that's true...
I am neither foxy, nor a lady.
