if they maintain this pace there is already at least another 6 seasons of material... the problem is waiting for it to get to the good parts... i guess they are planning on arriving at the prison at the end of season 2.
they have covered most of the material from the first 5 issues... but all this merle stuff isn't in the books... so if next week is focused on that... they will wrap up the season at 6/7 probably. anyone that has read that far probably knows where the season will leave us off...
I'm not going to white this out because the episode premiered everywhere and I think it's a rule of thumb to not venture in if you haven't watched the latest episode. I will only white out information that contains spoilers to future episode.
ACTUALLY, I just re watched the episode ending again and they showed 5 total people dead. Amy, Ed, a Mexican guy who was NOT Morales, a woman, and then the African American guy being eaten. With using imbd, you need to realize what episode the character first appeared in, too! Most of them were not in episode 1!

This was my favorite episode thus far. I feel like it finally hit the pace I have been waiting for, so I am excited. I am surprised the parts of the comic they choose to stay true to and the areas they drift away from. Either way, I love how easily characters are lost. I hope we never find out if Morales and his family die because Rick and everybody may never either. I did not like the ending and I can't explain why.
List of Characters DON'T SCROLL DOWN BELOW THE LIST OF CHARACTERS FROM THE SHOW. The above link may be handy for keeping up with the state of characters as we lose and gain people. Especially moments like the fight at the camp where several characters are lost in a fast pace. However, on the same page there is a list of current characters in the comics, which will provide spoilers for the show. It's really dumb because the Color Key is at the bottom of the page. So,
Green= Alive Red= Dead Gray= Undead Blue= Unknown
Edit: Also, I thought it read "reasons", wmgaretjax. So, that is where my confusion came from.
Issue 79 came out and I haven't downloaded, but expect a link in the group soon.

I don't know how to feel about the show. I loved the first two episodes, hated the third, enjoyed the fourth, and this last one, I felt was a bit slow, but picked up towards the end. I understand the need for plot exposition and character development, and also that it can't just be non-stop zombie action (especially since it's a TV show), but I'm hoping the next season is a bit more involving. Right now, it seems like they're dragging it out a bit - pumped for the finale though.
I don't know how I feel about this last episode's left field change from the comic series storyline. For the people that have read it do you think the season will end the way we all expect it now or what? Also, I just read that Frank Darabont let go of his entire writing staff in favor of guest writers that come and go for season 2. Which is funny because the worst episodes seem to be written by none other than Darabont himself.
Indeed. Will it be the main or peripheral character that survives?
lol. Somewhat of a spoiler
in the new Entertainment Weekly, Kirkman (the writer of the comic book) said he approved of Shane sticking around longer in the TV show. he said that early on he was afraid that the book would be cancelled so he rushed through a lot of story and killed Shane off too fast, but felt more story could be mined from this particular relationship (or something to that effect). So looks like Shane will be with us for a while.

the funny thing is that actually worked in the books favor. for one, the personal drama isn't particularly interesting in kirkman's hands. second, the frantic emotional nature of his death is really powerful in the context of the chaos... also, the suddenness was the best part of the first 10 issues imo.
