Default Third Eye Blind vs Three Doors Down

Which band is better? Which band is the best? If both bands were playing the same time at Coachella, who would you see and why?

TDD had kryptonite, TEB had about three or four "hits". that said, they both suck equally, I would therefore see neither.

That massively popular Third Eye Blind album is good, cheap pop. Can't knock it.

There aren't a lot of occasions where I can unleash the inner 3EB fan that's been mostly dormant since high school without feeling embarrassed, but this is absolutely one of those occasions. Was this a serious question? Three Doors Down is Nickleback territory.

Third Eye Blind is actually very listenable, fun music. Three Doors Down is some of the worst shit ever recorded.

This thread is nicely proving 3EB's continuing support, even among the Coachella crowd. Would love to see them play one year.

And Three Doors Down should never be mentioned again.

I saw Third Eye Blind with Eve 6 opening up back at Universal Amphitheater in like 1998 I think. My friend's mom was able to get us backstage. At one point we saw Stephan Jenkins walking down a hallway. Ran up to him and said "Are you the lead singer?" and he said "No,...um...I'm the electrician." We said oh, okay, can we get a picture anyways? and he complied. I wish I could find that. We also met Bob Saget who was there with his daughter.

I just decided to google the show and found an LA Times review. Kinda fun.

Semi-Charmed Group Simply Third Eye Bland in Concert

The trouble with bands like Third Eye Blind is that they have a couple of catchy songs and a decent-sounding album, but in concert they show their true colors: endless shades of bland. Which is exactly what the Bay Area quartet did Saturday at Universal Amphitheatre.

What can you say about an act that downplays its huge commercial status by trying to create an indie mood on stage, performing songs from its self-titled, double-platinum debut collection on sets that evoked a battered nightclub and a boho coffeehouse (for the predictable, even more tedious, "acoustic" part)?

Lead singer Stephan Jenkins worked hard at being charismatic, but his idea of a great performance seemed largely to involve leaping upon things and playing to worshipful teen girls in the crowd.

Honed by 18 months of touring, the group was tight as a drum, but the 100-minute show wasn't even as interesting or varied as the album's slick pop.

As expected, the rousing singles "Semi-Charmed Life" and "Graduate" stood out, but other tunes lost their recorded nuances, becoming a flavorless coagulation of punk-rock aggression, heartland-rock acoustic jangle and arena-rock flash.

Opening act Eve 6 rocked hard with such power-pop anthems as "Inside Out," but the L.A. trio proved undistinguished, and songs from its eponymous debut album offered only generic angst.

This is a discussion? Third Eye Blind is a fun 90's band, TDD is a band that seemed confused and got lucky with some radio play. I would love to see Third Eye Blind on the polo fields as well, be a great sign a long.

Yeah I don't think any of us are quite sure why this is a thread, but we're just going with it.

Because I have seen both names around a lot, don't remember a single song by either of them and am wondering if I am the only 2 who ever gets the names confused.

Yeah, obviously Third Eye Blind. I actually still listen to that first album semi-often and Motorcycle Drive-By is still a perfect song.

I saw them at the Indio Fair like six years ago though and it was pretty depressing. The lead singer's voice was pretty shot out and he had long hair with a top hat on.

That does not count as seeing both names around a lot. That would imply many sources or people actually interested or actively discussing them.
