The people who are freaking out without reason are complete and total narcissists, believing the government really gives a shit about them is laughable. I couldn't care less if I am being tracked, I have nothing to hide.
Not to mention the majority of these people were OK with the Patriot Act but not this is. Oh wait it wasn't their guy who did it, no it is the "black Muslim" so he must be impeached now.

Wasnt this started during the Bush era, or was that something else that came out recently?
It was started during the Bush era. It's been offensive and (in my mind) unconstitutional since then, and it doesn't matter which president is using it, it's still a violation of an individual's privacy rights. Show me a warrant or you have no right to be in my business.
And I have nothing to hide in my house. That doesn't mean I want the cops coming in at any point just because I can prove that there's nothing illegal going on. They need to be able to express a clear reason for invading privacy and to be able to back it with some evidence, otherwise they shouldn't be allowed to snoop.

The really weird dichotomy about it all is that in order to make real progress--changes to the system that would actually undo the fundamental flaws of corruption, the two-party illusion, tabloid politics, etc.--we actually need the powers that be to keep this sort of stuff up. In order to have any chance of actually correcting an institution which possesses such systemic problems that are so deeply intertwined with the media, corporate, military and religious facets of the nation, it's pointless to hope that things could improve by working within the structure. We have past the point of the American renaissance and our only hope now is a massive, angry, sweeping rejection of everything they do.
The problem is people will never step up and take those kinds of measures unless they are truly provoked to the point that they're willing to put their lives on the line. The only way to save America is we have to hope that the establishments aren't smart enough to restrain their abuse of power. We need way more invasion of privacy and mistreatment of citizens, preferably combined with multiple massive terror events to whip the people into the kind of rage needed to mount a coup.
I wonder if somewhere in the administration, there's one guy who's trying to push through more and more stuff that would freak the revolutionaries out, secretly doing what he believes to be the only way he can save his beloved country... by making it horrible enough to finally force the people to euthanize it.

There are numerous great Halal food carts around here and various other Halal restaurants. Searching Yelp for Halal foods in Mesa, AZ brings up a bunch of restaurants with cuisine such as Mediterranean, Indian and Thai.
I don't think I'm hosting a 2016 collaborative playlist.
Lamar Alexander is a Republican senator from Tennessee. Further support for my notion that the Tea Party is just a step removed from fascism..
An Open Letter To Senator Alexander
You have served a long and marked career. You have been a part of the Tennessee political scene for as long as most of us can remember. You have worked for Howard Baker, Winfield Dunn, served as Governor, were appointed to be the Secretary of Education of the federal government, President of the University of Tennessee, were a serious contender for the nomination of the Republican Party for President, and of course you are currently serving as a United States Senator. Your life-long career in government service is noteworthy.
During your tenure in the Senate we have no doubt that you voted in a way which you felt was appropriate. Unfortunately, our great nation can no longer afford compromise and bipartisanship, two traits for which you have become famous. America faces serious challenges and needs policymakers who will defend conservative values, not work with those who are actively undermining those values. Quite honestly, your voting record shows that you do not represent the conservative values that we hold dear and the votes you have cast as Senator are intolerable to us. Furthermore we have serious doubts about your ability to fix our problems since you have played such a significant role in creating them.
The Little Plaid Book you authored contains very sage advice on politics. Rule #297 is especially important because you advise anyone running for office to “Serve two terms, then get out.” Are you willing to follow your own advice, or will you fall into the mire of hypocrisy?
As you are likely aware, there have been polls conducted that show your vulnerability. While no viable contender has yet emerged, it is becoming more probable with each passing day that one will rise to the challenge. When a serious contender eventually does enter the race, the moment their fundraising capability makes them a viable candidate, your re-election is in serious jeopardy.
Therefore, we urge you to conclude your long and notable career by retiring with dignity instead of fighting against a serious conservative primary challenger who would expose to all Tennessee voters the actual history of your voting record.
