How old is the cat? You roommate should have a water bottle spray to discourage the cat from climbing certain areas/knocking things down. And why is it puking?
this is the only response that makes any sense.
also, courtney, you could get a dog. the dog would either become fast friends with the cat, and the cat would be happy and calm the fuck down. Or they would become sworn enemies, and the cat would stay clear of you whenever the dog's around. Either way, the dog would also eat up the cat puke.
She would just tell me to take allergy medicine. She is allergic to cats and that's what she does.
I seriously can't handle this cat. In the past week it has:
(1) Jumped up on the fridge and knocked down a big glass bowl causing it to break
(2) Caused me to miss my bus due to cleaning up her puke
(3) Scratched me because I would not pet her
(4) Bit me when I tried to pet her
(5) Yowled for 3 straight hours when I was trying to concentrate on work
(6) Scratched at and damaged a brand new armchair
Fucking asshole cat.
(1) Put away breakable items.
(2) Don't clean up the cat puke.
(3) Then pet her!
(4) Then don't pet her!
Wait, this isn't working.
My response to (2) is actually a very bad answer. I suspect you will need to work with your roommate and going hard-line on this is not going to be helpful, especially if when moving in you were "Oh, yeah, I love cats, great!" (Though your roommate should still be paying to replace the bowl, for example).
Trying to convince her to keep her cat in her bedroom at all times is not reasonable. You can keep the cat away from specific things (arm of a couch, shoelaces, power cords) with bitter apple spray but spraying all the common areas won't work.
Have you seen any of the Cat (or Dog) behavioral shows? Dog Whisperer and that sort of stuff? The experts don't talk to the pets, they don't change how the pet behaves; they change how the owners behave. My parent's dog Simba used to go wild when they left dishes out after dinner and so they would both clean up right after dinner "to calm her down". Simba, of course, didn't care about the dishes (and when I stayed there when my parent's were out of town she was calm). Simba got riled up because my mother was annoyed because she wanted the dishes cleaned up right after dinner but didn't realize it/wasn't willing to say anything/wanted to relax. Most cats aren't as human-oriented/trainable as dogs but still, generally, to live with cats you have to change what you do. I had to stop leaving water glasses all around. I had to learn how to pet (and when not to) each individual cat. I had to learn to relax about (some) mess and (some) scratched furniture.
Think of it as training to deal with troublesome board members and other co-workers. And figure out when you can move elsewhere.
I don't think I'm hosting a 2016 collaborative playlist.
