When I saw The Cult a month or two ago (at a GV show), Ian Astbury basically begged GV to book them for future Coachellas, since they've never been. Doesn't mean they will get booked, but they're a realiable old act that will sell some tickets to oldsters like me.

Ian Astbury was looking rough, though. Out of shape for the first time I've seen him that way, and he truncated a lot of lyrics... but he did that when I saw 'em in 1990, no sense changing twenty years later. Billy Duffy was amazing as always - I could definitely see them playing an hour or so if the lineup included a younger rock act.

They went platinum twice and had another gold record, and they definitely have enough legit music to entertain a hipster crowd without delving into radio sell-out nonsense.

what about waters? clapton? the who? I think that going back to one classic rock headliner would make for a better crowd. I remember reading an interview with Townshend where he said that they were talking with GV about playing. I've seen the Who several times and I don't think they would be the best old-headliners. Clapton (or Cream, fuck me) would be welcomed.
