I guess this is as good a time as any for her to get her own thread. Her show is going to be streaming live in a few, currently the opener is on.

bump she just hit the stage
That record was so dreadfully bad that I wouldn't even bother.
I miss the Dresden Dolls.

I totally agree. I dont care very much for the EE cd except for the first song. I saw her in SF on 5/22. EE live was awesome and very entertaining. The show was really long too. Amanda's set was a mess she only did a couple songs and didnt really know what she wanted to play but it was still okay. I wish Zoe would have been there. It was cool that she hangsout after to sign all of our stuff, I got my WKAP book signed.
Anyone have a setlist from an Evelyn Evelyn show?
Nice. I've loved this chick for years. You guys really think her record was that bad? I thought there were some really great songs on it, but yeah, maybe not enough. Good news is she plays some Dresden Dolls songs live. I was pleasantly surprised to see that at an Edinburgh show last Aug. No Brian, but we did get some Neil Gaiman on stage for a few readings.
The solo album is great. I was assuming that PT was referring to the EE album.
A set list for the twins goes something like this:
Evelyn Evelyn
Have you seen my sister Evelyn
The trajic events of September
ChickenMan
You only want me 'cause you want my sister
Elephant Elephant
Lean on Me (Bill Withers cover)
My Space
Love Will Tear us apart (Joy Division Cover)
Yes, Amanda's set is a bit of a mess, but I think it's just an expression of her new found freedom.
What does she play on the solo set?
It could be anything. She took a couple of requests, and then just played whatever she wanted on Thursday.
She played
Icarus (Jason Webly) with Jason Webly
Runs in the Family
Missed me
High and Dry (Radiohead cover)
Do You Swear To Tell The Truth The Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth So Help Your Black Ass?
Electric Blanket with Jason
Drinking song with everyone
It seems like I'm forgetting one, maybe it'll come to me later. The set lists are different from every show.
WTF? I didn't even know about EE. I thought you guys were talking about Who Killed Amanda Palmer. I've got some catching up to do.
The solo show I saw was a lot of her solo songs, some Dresden Dolls mixed in, her sister came on stage and sang with her, then Neil read some out of their book that goes along w/ the album. The UK fans LOVE her. Packed out a pretty big venue.
at the SF show I went to she played astronaut, coin operated boy, and fake plastic trees during her solo set. I forget what others.
She's a fantastic performer, but I don't think she's released anything consistently good since The Dresden Dolls S/T. Kinda feel like she's taken over Tori's role of bringing out obsessed, crazy, fat goth chicks everywhere.
When I see Regina Spektor, I think of a little Jewish girl who received too much encouragement from her parents for being "eccentric." It's cute in the same way that a kid with absolutely no artistic skills tries to draw you a picture, but it always ends up looking like a hotdog with dicklegs.
Pretty much. A lot of those fans scare me.
S/T is amazing, Yes Virginia is half really good, half forgettable, No Virginia and the solo album each have a few good songs, and Evelyn Evelyn is awful but she's one hell of a live performer, especially when with Brian. Covers are usually very cool (War Pigs, Creep, Two Headed Boy, etc).
Yeah, heard it covered at the last DD show in LA.
I was.
To be honest, Amanda's already hit her peak. The s/t DD record and Yes, Virginia aren't going to be topped anytime soon. No, Virginia's a pretty mediocre b-sides record, WKAP is a respectable solo effort but also mediocre for the most part (besides Ampersand which is an incredible song), but the EE record is just fucking awful.
I've always loved the juxtaposition in Amanda's music between the fantastic piano playing that's more magic than skill and her lyrics, mainly when they're personal and introspective (not heavy handed like Guitar Hero). EE is a complete rejection of all of that and it's depressing to say the least.
