Ahhh, I'm so excited. Booking my hotel today assuming that it's metro accessible again. I don't mind it at USC so long as they let you walk all around coliseum. But a return to Spring Street would be nice.

I would seriously consider not going if it was at Expo Park again.

Expo Park wasn't the problem so much as doubling the capacity. If there were 20,000 people like usual it would have been great.

Nah, Expo Park was truly awful. Those were the most awkward placed stages and stands I think I've ever seen.

It really wasnt that bad. Someone mentioned opening all sides of the collesium and I completely agree. That congestion was a fucking nightmare. And as for the capacity limit, I can't really compare it to years' past as this was my first time but maybe lower the number to 5000 less than 2014?

Issues getting in aside, Expo Park was a pain because of the layout. The walk from the northern stage to the main stage was such a pain that it cost me a few acts I wanted to see. If they can't utilize the Coliseum itself, I don't want to go back to that location.

Yeah. If it's at Expo Park again, it's gonna take a really killer lineup to get me back.

A lot of festivals have have the stages really far apart. If the ways to get there are not completely full of people it's not a problem.

I actually enjoyed FYF at Expo Park, but I also was one of the lucky ones who never encountered the logistic problems of day 1 last year. With the direction this festival is going and assuming they produce a lineup as big as 2014, can FYF realistically return to LA Historic?

I don't expect it to be back at USC. On the Nerdist Podcast, Jonah Ray recently revealed that FYF didn't do comedy this year because they didn't feel there was a place on the grounds where it would work, but he made it sound like this was a one-off thing, that they wouldn't be in Expo Park in 2015 and bring back comedy.

Yep, exactly. Screw having it there again this year.

Having comedy again would be fantastic. It's unfortunate that they had to cut it out.

Once that park is finished there won't be enough space for FYF with it's old capacity, let alone their new doubled capacity. Hopefully they move it to DTLA where Detour fest was (I feel like they said 2013 was going to be in DTLA but they couldn't get it together in typical FYF fashion).

Maybe Grand Park then? If MIA happens again, it'd be pretty compelling for both fests to use the same site (similar to how FYF, H20 and Hard fest used LA State Park) from a logistics POV. Anywhere besides Expo Park would be a step up.

MIA is definitely happening again, and I have a really hard time believing that they would have two huge festivals 2 weekends in a row there. It's already pretty disruptive. So many people live downtown now. That location simply is not comparable to where the State Park is.

If they just got rid of the entire mainstage area and didn't book any huge names, Expo Park would be perfect.

Day 2 at expo park showed it was a completely reasonable venue if run properly. I would happily make the trip from Utah again even if it remains at Expo.

I disagree that day 2 was really that much better. Beyond fixing the line situation and opening up the arena seats, it still felt like at least 5000 too many people.

That's just wrong to me to increase capacity by that much. I'm not sure if it was greed on FYF's part or just thinking that the different venue would easily accommodate the space, but when I heard that people were far away for even mid-tier acts on the main and second stage, it sounded like a shitty time and reminded me a lot of how Lollapalooza or, dare I even compare it, the Warped Tour, with the line of sights being poor.

Yep, way too many people. They had great food options I wanted to try but no way I was waiting in those lines. It was bad, even the craft beer area ran out of craft beer before Built to Spill on Sunday.

I agree that the festival was oversold. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra if that meant less tickets would be sold.

Yet EDC being held in that same space didnt feel like too many people, and it was over 100k. The capacity hinges all on the fire marshall agreeing to what the organizers want attendance wise, so blame that guy. If the arena was never used as a stage, then that takes out the extra attendees which created the clusterfuck that lead to your free swag from crying so much to fyf on facebook.

and if nobody noticed, fyf tweeted to somebody that the line up will be out in May.

I agree with getting rid of the area where the main stage was. They should just have the main stage inside the coliseum, they could put the stage on the west side of the field and let people in through the plaza. There are plenty of stairs an entries into the field and it's pretty wide. Plus, it would be nice to sit in for a few minutes.
