Exclamation Something for Goldenvoice to consider...

Yesterday I posted a thread offering my camping spot in exchange for a ride from LAX.

Within the hour, I had about 20 emails offering everything from money, to weed, to "me and my friends are all good-looking and we're like chick-magnets".

(sorry, douche, but I had to make fun of you somewhere)

I spoke on the phone to several of them trying to find the best group to camp with and came across something interesting....

MOST OF THEM HAVEN'T PURCHASED THEIR TICKET BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A PLACE TO STAY

A lot of them mentioned that they just really don't want to camp out in some shady person's lot (yes, "afterhourscamping" peeps, your shit is shady) and that all the other campsites are a little too far.

I'm not saying it's Goldenvoice's fault that they don't have a camping ticket, but, business-wise, isn't it in the organizers' best interest to make sure there are more on-site camping spots next year?

Yeah they should start demolishing houses to make space and just lock some of the e-tards in the Sahara for the duration of the weekend. That should free up a bit.

Because you made this post I'm sure they'll have makeshift camping towers all over the place for next year

But really....The fest has sold out before and it seems to me there's more camping options than ever so it all works out

Or rent space from the "I have 10 acres across from the festival grounds" people and find a way to make it work.

Goldenvoice brings 100,000 people out to the middle of nowhere and convinces divas to play in sweltering heat... I'm sure they're savvy enough to find a way.

So using your "anology", if I owned a store that only ran on gift cards, and I printed 8,000 of them, and they ran out because my product was very popular, and as a result people had to go on ebay and pay 1,000% more for those gift cards in order to purchase the product that I'm only getting face value for.

Now, as a business owner, wouldn't it make more sense to print more gift cards to become more profitable, than to let them go on ebay and have other people making money on my business?

You spelled analogy wrong. Also this makes no sense.

I think if anything next year, the organizers might make a cap on how many camping passes you can buy per household.

Since the show list is very minimal...
    August 29 // Chemical Brothers w/ Chromeo & Yacht @ Hollywood Bowl
September 26 // Vampire Weekend w/ Beach House & the Very Best @ Hollywood Bowl
October 5 // ARCADE FIRE @ Henry Miller Library
October 13 // Corin Tucker Band @ The El Rey
(someone should give me Sufjan Stevens tickets, aint got none of those)

in your plan, how do you account for selling business cards for which you have no items to offer. gift cards for an empty, out-of-stock store are a shitty idea.

So, for all the naysayers, just so I'm clear, you think Goldenvoice shouldn't try to add more camping spots next year, correct?

There is only so much free space surrounding the polo fields. The polo club just bought 50+ acres last year which is why they were able to expand camping. I understand your point, but see no solution.
