oh wow....you're not kidding Joann. someone has finally trumped Ms. Clarke....that's huge!

i got a cool shirt at the LA show with the album cover on the back and "SWIM" in collegiate lettering on the front. broke it in during my trip to Baja.

so hoping for a return at TI Fest.

I've spent a good portion of 2010 looking at Owen Pallett youtubes.

I don't know. ThomThom and Jeff said something about it in the Gorillaz thread. They don't list an opener for the Phx show.

Are you kidding me? A weekend in SF and a lineup that stacked for $100. Can't pass it up big guy.

I just have a hard time travelling for a festival that has a bunch of bands I've already just seen/have tickets to see later in the year. And the festival might cost $100, but you'll have spent more than five times that much by the end of the weekend.

The band's guest-packed set at last year's ATP NY becomes a tour exclusive

Late last summer, Canadian psych head-expanders Caribou played the Flaming Lips-curated ATP New York festival, recruiting an all-star band to play alongside them. For the span of that set, Caribou's numbers included Sun Ra Arkestra bandleader Marshall Allen, Four Tet mastermind Kieran Hebden, Koushik, Born Ruffians' Luke Lalonde, five horn players, and four drummers-- a total of 15 people. And now those of us who weren't at ATP will get to hear how that set sounded, as it's now become a double live album, as the band announces on its website.

The limited edition double-vinyl set, credited to "Caribou Vibration Ensemble Featuring Marshall Allen", comes with a DVD of the show and the ridiculously great cover art you see above. It'll only be available at Caribou shows, not at record stores.

    Live at ATP New York:

    LP1:

A1 Every Time She Turns Round It's Her Birthday
    A2 Hendrix With Ko
    B1 Sandy
    B2 Skunks

    LP2:

    A1 Barnowl
    A2 Melody Day
    B1 Brahminy Kite
    B2 A Final Warning

Yeah, I'm betting it'll be good. Aaron said the sound got better after we all walked off, and it was a great idea for a set.

How funny, I was just on Daytrotter's site yesterday grabbing Tor Y Moi's set. Thanks for posting, this performance by Caribou really is quite good.

Got the day off for the Chicago date. Should be a great show, especially if Emeralds are anywhere as good as they were at Neon Marshmallow.

    Per Caribou's FB page:

The venue in Seattle has been changed to Chop Suey. see you there!
Hmm, I wonder if it's because of poor ticket sales. Which would be weird, cuz it was very nearly sold out when I saw Caribou at Neumos last May.

The crowd is better at Chop Suey's anyway, plus the venue is really intimate and the sound system is huge too.

    Edit:

FYI Showbox Market is the largest of the three venues, but tends to have the douchiest crowds and prick bouncers. Neumos is my favorite, it's mid-sized with a quality soundsystem and the crowds are mostly good. Chop Suey is the smallest, has better crowds and a bumpin soundsystem.
