I'm considering buying from Vivid. They were pretty reliable the one time I bought tickets from them.

I wonder what my odds are if i just showed up and tried to talk my way in or find someone willing to sell onsite or something.

I remember trying that for a Jay Farrar / Brian Henneman billing at the old Nita's (the one on old rio salado next to the motorcycle repair shop). that didn't work so well. i got there and i saw brian in the parking lot by himself and i was like hey man do you have any more tickets and he just shrugged and went inside and played his set.

I've never tried talking my way in before, because I'm not that smooth, but I would say the odds of succeeding are pretty low with the setup at the venue. I think a few times I've seen scalpers on the street corner, so that might be worth a shot. I haven't bought a ticket yet because the fees on Vivid were in my opinion, unreasonable. Charging 15 for physical shipping and 7 to email me the ticket. It looks like I'll have to pass on this one unless prices plummet on stubhub (currently at $60).

edit: TOM is that at Crescent?

Bah I just followed Tom's lead and bought a ticket. I remember that being one of my great regrets a couple years ago that I was on ly able to watch two of their songs at Coachella.

Attention husband: do not excitedly buy a ticket to this. We will be in Madrid.

If the show tonight is anywhere near as good as their Coachella set was then the extra cost will be worth it. I'm looking forward to hearing a lot of the new tracks.

Holy SHIT, they were good (First Aid Kit). HOLY SHIT. They played a Fleet Foxes song that they could hardly remember the words to, but it was still luminous, and they were so enthusiastic and humble. They played a Bob Dylan song that I knew only because the White Stripes covered it ("One More Cup of Coffee?"). They played several new songs, including one with the "f" word in it that earned them a parental advisory sticker on their new album (coming out in "11 days") as the blond, keyboard-playing sister jokingly but proudly told us. Oh man, I love when sisters harmonize. Such a wonderful thing to behold. They even sang a song without mics, and their voices rang through the club, lovely and proud. I love this band.

Best scalped ticket I bought EVER.

Amy's exactly right. That was one fucking amazing show. If you thought their Coachella set was good, this was light years beyond that. They've grown from being a wistful pair of songbirds two a rocking 4-piece with stage charisma like crazy. I was looking forward to last night's show but HOLY SHIT pretty much nails it. I feel like I witnessed something magical.

edit: they also covered Simon & Garfunkel's "America"

another edit: The new songs sounded fucking great.

Yeah I couldn't have said it better myself. The set list, their stage presence, that unplugged song they played, everything was perfect. They played a longer set than I thought they would. I also enjoyed Willie Mason's set too.

I also enjoyed Willie Mason! Great guitar picking and a very pleasant voice -- really pretty falsetto when he hit the high notes.

Willie really did kill it. I was thoroughly impressed having never heard his material before last night. Also, after replaying some of the memorable songs from last night, I think that may be one of the best shows I've seen this year. I really do hope First Aid Kit gets booked to play in 2015, preferably a set that isn't at 2 in the afternoon like their first time around.

I would say it was the best show this year but for the incomparable Janelle MonŠe back in January. Tough act to follow. and both acts have great sense of style and drama in addition to an over abundance of musical talent.

Huh, I was pretty sure the presale was last week. We got our tickets already. I believe "violet" was the code, but Jen would be the authority being that she made the purchase.

Also, long time, no see, Mark. How've you been? Last I recall seeing you was at Presets when you were with a girl who was *really* enjoying her drugs. Or at least I presume that's what the cause of her behavior was.

I'm sure you are right. I've been working a lot more so I haven't been paying attention to the boards or show announcements. It's nice to finally see a decent price on a good show and be able to get good seats.

I'm still with that girl. She dances like that all the time sober too.

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
