The 'Mats, huh? Well, now I'll allow myself to be a little optimistic about the lineup.
7/15-Little Boots (The Echo Los Angeles)

    8/8-Grace Potter (Celebrity Theatre)
    8/23-Dawes (Crescent Ballroom)
    8/29-Slipknot w/Lamb of God (Ak-Chin Pavilion)
    9/25-Foo Fighters (Ak-Chin Pavilion)
    9/27-Kanye West (Tempe Beach Park)
    10/8-Charli XCX (Marquee Theatre)
    10/13-Florence + the Machine (Ak-Chin Pavilion)
    10/15-Run the Jewels (Marquee Theatre)

Yeah be a little optimistic but don't get too carried away. Foster the People are playing one day too so its not like Luckyman has sudden grown a pair and booked something that this state has never seen before.

I found out through the radio station that I volunteer/intern with and I guess Luckyman wants them to help announce/promote it.

Do you happen to know if Gaslight Anthem will be there? My buddy and I are hoping they swing through town again this year with the new album coming out in the fall. They seem like a band that Luckyman might book for something like this.

Do you know if the Replacements & Violent Femmes will be on the same day or will they spread them out so that people interested in seeing both will be compelled to attend multiple days?

Yeah they would seem like a good fit. I'm not sure though. I could look into it tomorrow. I have yet to glance at the full lineup poster.

This could actually provide an occasion for a TomAZ sighting outside of Coachella.

Violent Femmes are on the last day with FtP, Replacements are the headliners on the second day.

Hmm. Thank you. Would be great to see the Replacements again. Eager to see what the rest of the lineup looks like and how much tickets will be, and if there will be any VIP package and what that would entail. Something tells me that spending the extra cash might be worth it if it reduces the potential of being surrounded by the types of assholes who would talk during the entire fucking set.

If the price is right, and if there are any packages available, VIP will be the way to go. I enjoyed seeing them even though I wasn't too familiar with their material and I left their set a huge fan. But I think part of that was because I was surrounded by so many diehard fans who enjoyed it, unlike a lot of the casual people that attend these Beach Park fests.

Wow. Thanks for the info Zach. I'm probably already in for this considering I skipped the Mats for Bryan Ferry and I love the Femmes.

Yeah no problem. Saturday is THE day to go though, Descendents and Luscious Jackson are also playing. Fitz and the Tantrums on Sunday too.

Well, my curiosity is piqued. With the names mentioned so far, it sounds like a move in the right direction for Phoenix festivals at least.

Wow. They need a bigger area than Tempe Beach for a lineup like this.

Foster the People and Violent Femmes are good I guess, but not interested in any of the other names.

This lineup is much more than what I've come to expect from AZ promoters who have no idea how to curate a large, halfway decent, multi-day festival. At least it isn't another throwaway nostalgia 90's fest like Liquid Sol turned out to be. It gives me hope for the future.

I know -- "and more!" is not a full lineup. And usually "and more" is disappointing.

Capital Cities are SO MUCH FUN. But you would probably hate them because you hate fun. They sound kind of like MGMT, but with a trumpet. Not my usual kind of music, but they bring the energy live.

I am contemplating buying a Sunday pass because Foster the People are actually pretty great and the Violent Femmes really impressed me last year at Coachella.
