Thread: General Phoenix Area Shows

I'm currently in Prescott and can vouch that there is not much of anything as well. Just the downtown area, and almost all the bars specialize in playing honky-tonk music

Haha. Well that goes without saying, but I went walking down the bar area hoping to hear at least one bar that plays hip hop or anything else.

Aren't the ponies running up there? You might be able to go to the horse track tomorrow if you're into that kind of thing.

I think it's called Yavapai Downs, but I can't pull anything up at work.

Not gonna lie, I immediately Googled "Yavapai Downs Syndrome" hoping to find a picture of a Native kid with the illness.

It was great! A packed house on a Tuesday night. This was my first time seeing the Screaming Eagle of Soul as he is called. I just love his voice and soul. He played just over an hour and it flew by. I will see him whenever he comes. He definitely does those James Brown screams perfect. The band is great too. I was actually surprised at how great and close to the recordings his voice sounds. A great live singer.

I wish I could have attended. I love both his albums but it just wasn't in the cards.

I just realized Deerhunter is playing the Crescent tonight. I wonder if I could pass my daughter as 16 yet? She's taller than I am but skinny as a rail.

Regarding The Crescent. Yes. The grill/bar is actually open from lunch through midnight on weekdays. If you follow them on facebook they often do buy lunch get a free ticket to various shows as well. They tend to do this for shows that aren't selling great. They are great people.

I just saw Amy responded as well. Also, as you know i'll be at Janelle Monae.

In other news, if people want to see Pulp Fiction it's playing at the Cinemark in Mesa on Sunday and Wednesday this coming week.

Anyone go to the Yeah Yeah Yeah's show? How was it?

I've met and hung out with quite a few of you, but I'm looking forward to finally meeting some of those who I have not encountered in person. I will be there with my wife.

This was my fourth time seeing them (Coachella '09, Marquee '09, Coachella '13 W1) and this was my favorite set. Runaway was probably the highlight for me. They seemed to extend the closing jam a bit and it was really awesome. Rockers to Swallow was also great. Karen O broke her microphone in half at the end of the show when she was swinging it around after Date With The Night. God, that woman is amazing.

When I was adding the Janelle Monae show into my concert history tracker, I realized that it's 2 days before the NIN show. Good week, that.

Glad to hear YYYs & Charles Bradley were great. Too bad one can't make every show.

Liquid Sol Fest may not be dead after all. They updated the website to say that it's now happening Nov. 2 at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Well that doesn't make any sense. It says that in some weird font at the top of the page but every other place on the website still lists the old location in Florence. One top of that it went from a 3 day festival to a 1 day festival?

Also, there is a gun show that weekend at UoP Stadium according to their calendar. Odd.

A few Harkins Theatres locations will be showing the Morrissey 25 movie tonight at 7 p.m. I know Chandler Fashion Center and Scottsdale 101 are two of the locations off the top of my head. Film Bar will also be showing it tonight. At least he can't postpone or cancel this.
