The fun that most people have is banal tripe. Amusement for the easily amused. Shiny things for the infantile. A great void, a yawning chasm of unintelligent content that the unlearned and unwashed find enthralling. You see, most people like fun, and I don't like most people.

It's an accurate comparison. "Kids" and "Safe and Sound" share a similar bassline and song structure. That being said, Capital Cities are leaps and bounds ahead of MGMT in a live context.

Eels were awesome last night; great show to break my cherry at the Crescent! Enjoyed the moment when E decided in a song break to go into the crowd and give out some hugs.

Too bad we'll be in Spain during that week.

Whoa, how had you avoided the Crescent in the 2.5 years it's been around? Glad to hear the show was great. Eels did "Novocain for the Soul," right? Or am I thinking of Soul Coughing? (Yes, I realize I could Google it right now but I'm attempting to be conversational.)

Did anybody else already buy their Summer Ends tickets? The only options online were for will-call or print-at-home. Being that I prefer hard tickets, I drove out to Zia, and the purchase counted towards Zia points that helped me offset a bit of what I spent on CDs while I was there.

Was given a ticket to Damien Jurado at the Crescent this Saturday. Has anyone ever seen him? Only heard any of his stuff for the first time the other night.

yep! they wrote Novocaine for the Soul, but unfortunately didn't play it. and yes, i realize i'm a horrible person for not attending a show at the Crescent previously. with that said, LOVED the venue!

That sucks when a band doesn't play their most recognizable hit, although I can understand how tired of it the proverbial they must get. (Probably annoying for them to have a vast body of work and yet be expected to play a particular song night in and night out.) And so long as you atone for your sins with numerous pilgrimages back to the Crescent, I think the Council of Concert Attendance will forgive you this trespass in due time.

Or you could have read my previous post -- the one you quoted, in fact -- and learned the multiple options for purchasing tickets.

Glad we'll see you there, by the way.

I feel like going to the Billy Joel show at US Airways Center in a couple weeks but don't want to spend $100. Upper level comes in at $65 after fees. Has anyone seen Billy Joel and/or a show at the venue from the upper level who can chime in on whether that's worth the cost?

EDIT: Damien Jurado was pretty snoozy, by the way. If we'd gotten a seat or hadn't been drinking, maybe we would've lasted more than 6 songs. Just wish he'd have switched it up a little, like Jeff Mangum or Tallest Man on Earth. They're doing the same thing -- singer/guitarist unaccompanied by any other musicians -- but they both exude stage presence and make it impossible to get bored while they're performing. They set the template for what I was expecting last night.

Right. My point (too compactly expressed, so my bad) was that when *I* got *my* tickets it only let *me* do the will call option. I bought a 3 day pass maybe that's why.

And if you go to Billy Joel, well you deserve anything that happens after. ha ha.

Two of my friends are going to this, I had an open invite but had to decline. I'm interested to see what they think since this is an event they would typically not attend.

I didn't expect it either. Damn these 16+ shows and all the high schoolers that buy up all the tickets. I'm hoping the assholes on stubhub drop their crazy prices because I was really looking forward to seeing the Söderbergs again.

I bought tickets of vivid recently, and I can't recall exactly how much, but there is a "service fee" mark up once you choose tickets to purchase.
