i created a pre-show meet-up event on facebook for jurassic 5. doors appear to be at 6:30, so i made it for 4 on mill. open to location suggestions. let me know if you want an invite
The Black Lips were great. They brought a saxophone player our for Family Tree and Boys in the Wood, which was a nice bonus. The new stuff did sound great and they played the older stuff I wanted to hear. Venue made for a tighter pit, though they did put a barrier in the crowd with under 21 taking most of the front. The Coat Hangers were a cool opener, too. Female punk trio that rotated instruments pretty much every song.
Ohhhh I seeee!
I have an extra ticket for Lorde on Thursday if anyone wants it.
Anyone going to The Naked and Famous tonight?
George Clinton & P-Funk two weeks from tonight at Marquee.

Chvrches was fun last night. Sold out show at the Marquee and the big crowd was into it. The singer's voice sounded good live. She said it was their first time in Arizona, but she knew about it because of Jimmy Eat World. They brought the biggest light show I've seen in a while.
Interpol @ Marquee 8/20
Rick, and Ivy, you two like Interpol, right? I still think they put on the worst set I've ever seen at Coachella, ever.
Did anybody know Seth Troxler was at the Monarch on Wednesday?
I'm not sure if I'm just out of the loop or the promoters are dropping the ball on these shows. Checked out some of their past ones and they've brought out Daniel Avery, Waze & Odyssey, and Ejeca along with a ton of DFA artists.
It's most likely I'm just out of the loop.
i hate the bar set-up at monarch. the drinking area is on the left by the bar, but anywhere you'd want to dance is next to a line for the bar. and if you want to use the restroom or sit down or smoke, you gotta give up your drink. the left/right split is so odd and a waste of space. i miss the brickhouse/mason jar method of putting the all-ages area up front and the drinkers in the back.
Shawn Colvin & Steve Earle
May 26 (Memorial Day)
Shawn Colvin is kind of meh, but I love Steve Earle.
I really really like one song by Shawn Colvin, but all the rest is indeed meh. SUnny Came Home or whatever it's called.
the busy bee has no time for sorrow.
Rumors on a couple of Macca sites say that a Phoenix show on Aug. 12 at Jobing.com Arena will be announced soon. Apparently Phoenix and Missoula are the last shows that will be announced for his summer tour.
