After some fast driving and a sprint from the parking garage to the theater, I made it down to the floor right as they started their first song.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
B2B post:
So wavves were great last night. Played a lot of songs from their new album and king of the beach. Crowd was really energetic even for the opener FIDLAR, although that might be because half the crowd were youngsters. All in all, it was a good time.
Anyone going to Boris tonight at Crescent?
Prydz playing at bigsurf Saturday.
I'll be there

I'm too broke for that right now. Have you gone to previous big surf party events? Did you have a good time?
I miss talking to TomAz.
We all do. I live in the same city as him (unless he relocated) and rumor has it that at 3:15am if you listen closely and its really really quiet you can hear him telling you to go fuck yourself.
Damn i'd like to see Prydz but I will be at Metz on Saturday.

$65 for early tickets? Oof. No, thanks. (Although I would like to see Deep Dish again, even if it's just half of them. Have fond memories of tripping my ass off and dancing to them in the Sahara 2003. There was so much space to move around, it was like a 1:30 set from this year.)
Prydz has a 2.5 hour set. Nice

It was a ton of fun. Everyone seemed to be in a great mood. The music was better than expected and it was a blast going on some of the slides less than sober. I'd go again.
Good to know. Thanks for the review, Scott.

Nope, but I'm planning to go to Of Montreal next week. Just need a ticket.

The Presets and !!! Later this month. Pretty excited for both of those shows!
Holy mother of guitar gods...I got a VIP wristband from Prince's crew before doors opened. I was three feet from Prince. Wow. I need more time to process this.
I'm at work trying to run off of barely 3-1/2 hours of sleep and I still don't think I can properly articulate how amazing last night was. I'll try to later, but for now here's the set list (from Doves to Mr. Goodnight was the sampler portion):

That's cool, man. Thanks for the set list. How'd you manage to get VIP? Were you just chilling with Prince's crew or do you know somebody?
What time did you get there? Are you going tonight? I know doors are at 6:30 but he went on around 8:50, according to another board member's Facebook post. I'm not going to try getting super close (right in front of the sound board is probably going to be my aim) but I've got to pick up my tickets at will call & want to get an idea of what a clusterfuck that may have been (if you had any experience with it).
Everything with the box office ran smoothly from what I could tell. I got there at 4:30. A couple of guys from Prince's crew came out right before doors opened and started giving the VIP wristbands out. Most of them went to women (it was after security had separated the line into men's and women's lines). I got one of the last ones given out to the men's line. I think they gave out around 50-70 VIP wristbands. Wish I could go again tonight, but the lack of funds for another ticket and plus the additional lack of sleep it would mean is keeping me from making it happen. Plus, I just don't know how last night can be topped after scoring that VIP pass. I mean, I'm sure Prince could because he's freakin' Prince, but I'm perfectly happy just being able to have gone last night.
