sorry i wasn't online or i could have texted. the marquee expanded? the fuck? to where?
I miss talking to TomAz.
We all do. I live in the same city as him (unless he relocated) and rumor has it that at 3:15am if you listen closely and its really really quiet you can hear him telling you to go fuck yourself.
Yes! Glad everyone got the tickets they wanted today.

Amy, they were doing some renovations to the Marquee when we were there for the Hives in October. Haven't been back since but I think that was done in anticipation of their Green Day & Morrissey shows (both of which, of course, ended up being postponed & haven't happened yet). I have no idea what that'll mean for the floor; Jason Kenyon might be a good person to ask on Facebook.
I really needed Morrissey this weekend. I hope he recovers well. Poor crazy bastard.

I will quiz my co-worker a bit more the next time I see him on the Marquee expansion. I have not seen it so i'm not sure. From what I recall he described it as being so packed that the entire patio is full and the lobby. I don't know how they could sell tickets if you have to listen from the patio though. He knows all the details so i'll report back in a couple of days when I find out more. He said they were raising capacity to like 2000 and they did this about a month ago.
I guess I need to get there early for Phoenix.

The one consistent complaint that continues over the years is the will call line. I know someone who was at Trampled By Turtles and they said it was almost an hour wait to grab their tickets. I do like that I can bike and light rail to it though.
If I ever get stuck with will call tickets at Marquee, I try to go by earlier in the day at like 3 or 4 to pick them up. The line isn't always long at show time, but when it is, it is unbearable. I know not everyone can swing by Marquee in the afternoon but I highly recommend it if you can.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
The website said you cannot pick up the will call tickets until 6:30 for Phoenix.

Of course they create rules to make it more complicated, they're the marquee.

Meanwhile, in shows to plan for this summer...

Crescent Ballroom
PHOENIX, AZ
Hmm, Thursday night. To take the following day off or not? I'm kind of surprised he's playing the same venue as last time, considering I thought it sold out. Hopefully this means we get a new album this year & that the crowd will be a bit less obnoxious. (Won't hold my breath on that.)
I usually take the day off after a show if the concert happens on a weeknight.
Fresh off his "JUICY AUSTRALIA TOUR"
No, they stopped that last year.

False alarm. The co-worker says that plan to increase capacity at the Marquee was delayed so it's no different than it has been.
They didn't. He told me they increased capacity in 2004 from about 1000 to 1500. In order to do that they had to add another toilet to each bathroom (he noted that it's almost always out of order by the way). They were supposed to increase to over 2000 about month ago and the Deftones and Green Day (before Green Day postponed) shows were going to be the first ones with the new capacity. He also said they have always oversold shows and continue to do so. He doesn't know a ton, he's not sure if they are still going to increase or not. This guy is kind of dopey so i'm not really sure what to make of what he says at this point.
I don't understand where you could fit another 500 people there!
Me either.
Did Rodriguez ever have a Crescent Ballroom date or was the Crescent site just selling/promoting the show in Tucson? Oh well. Tucson show is sold out for him.
Yeah I was thinking they made me take off my shoes recently (Shpongle).

Security tends to be tighter for any electronic shows. They want to separate the kids from their drugs.
