Tomas, not sure what time we're getting there. We arrived around 8 on Saturday and had a couple of hours to kill till Phantogram. Got a seat on the bleachers out of it but we're trying not to drink tonight, which is made more difficult with lots of time to kill. I'm only so strong a man.

Were there 2 opening acts on Sat? I think or at least hope there's only 1 tonight. I've had about all the Peachcake I can handle.

We ended up only having 3 drinks between the 2 of us, so close enough to success. What'd you think of that Honey Badger?

M83 were surprisingly awesome tonight. I figured they were going to be good but not that good. Closing out the Mojave against Coldplay would be terrific.

M83 were great last night. Good to see everyone, and meet you Matt.

But, what was up with the insane amount of tall people at M83 last night? I'm 6 feet tall and usually height at a show isn't an issue. I thought the Harlem Globetrotters were in town or something!

PS-The honey badger was excellent, Rick.

I also had a brief Gribble siting.

The show was so good that at one point during the show I turned around and saw this guy next to me crying. He was way into the show and apparently having the time of his life.

I don't think there's been one bad show at crescent, yet...at least from the shows i've attended...M83, Phantogram, Youth Lagoon, Sergio Mendoza, St. Vincent, Washed Out, CSS, Unknown Mortal Orchestra...

Thanks Rick, for the heads up on the Radiohead presale this morning. Still can't believe they're coming to Phoenix.

I was surprised that the bros you eventually got in front of were pretty cool and accommodating as much as was reasonable to the people around them. They didn't really need to be so the effort they made was all the more impressive. They were putting their hands on the back of each other's heads when they'd lean in and talk, though, which seemed awfully intimate. One of them gave Micah his drink, saying he couldn't drink anymore. I wondered for a minute if Micah was being roofied. Apparently not.

    And glad you liked it.

Grimes was surprisingly enjoyable. A lot dancier than I expected based on her album. Austra's voice was really good, as were her backup singers'. The band was kind of bitchy, though. I couldn't help paying attention to the keyboardist, who kept looking at the drummer and making this face like he was not enjoying himself. And she played only 9 songs, including one new one, when her album's got 11. There must have been somebody at the front of the crowd singing along horribly. At the start of the set, Austra said something about how she needed to add the person to her band for harmonies. A couple of songs later, she started seeming annoyed, saying that people were going to start asking for their money back. Finally, during "Beat and the Pulse," she flat out said, "Let me do this one by myself" before singing "Feel it break." Don't know if she was disappointed in the turnout (which seemed fine for the venue & it being a Tuesday night) or if she's just as crabby as I can be, but it was odd.

Oh, and she walked past me a couple of times during Grimes' performance. I motioned to her during the last pass, told her that I love "The Future," particularly the lyric "I came so hard in your mouth," arched my eyebrows suggestively, and asked if she was going to be at Coachella next year. She paused a moment before saying, "It doesn't look like it." Darn.

Nice meeting you at Austra. And I thought you were going to say that M83 was so good that at one point, you turned around and saw some guy raining punches down on the person sitting next to him, but that was Faxman.

All of this. She had a shit-eating-grin on her face the first time she sang "It's all insane" on Darken Her Horse like she was thinking about the current situation. And I'm fairly certain the backup singer said it was their first time playing a "booze" bar and then changed it to "blues." I'll definitely be at Born Gold/Grimes in Feb. Born Gold shows are so much fun.

Good meeting you and cptn as well.

i saw touche amore and pianos become the teeth tonight at the secret garden on asu campus. it was a bad ass place to see a show. the sound was awful but it didn't really matter. i would really enjoy seeing some other acts play there in the future.

Any good show in January? I'm thinking about buying my sisters tickets for a show at the Crescent Ballroom for Christmas, including drinks on me.

This would be a repeat of last year's gift which was tickets to Wavves/Best Coast with drinks on my tab. They loved it.

I'm also curious if people know of good shows coming up since we seemed to have passed the Fall hump. The only CB show in Jan I'll probably do is Starfucker. They just booked Young the Giant for early Feb if you like indie soft rock or whatever it is.

I'll go to X at Club Red in December and probably They Might be Giants in Jan. If I feel like revisiting junior high I might go to Fishbone or NOFX. Meat Puppets are playing the Clubhouse on NYE, but I won't go to that venue.

    So that's all I got for Dec-Jan.
