I saw Alien Soundtracks sometime last summer, they're... alright.
The Echo Curio is one of my favorites. It is indeed tiny. It has a really warm and welcoming feel to it. That looks fun.
Sweet. i'm really going to make an effort to go to it. my buddy plays some plays in Riverside all the time so i rarely get a chance to see him perform. he's done Echo Curio like twice before and he seems to have built a relationship with them.

Grouper/Infinite Body/Ilyas Ahmed last night was probably my favorite show of the year so far. (John Wiese was also there put didn't perform a regular set). I was surprised that not a very huge crowd showed up, instead it was modest and extremely respectful. So quiet you could hear a pin drop. Just right. Grouper played all new material, a lot of stuff from that ATP recording last year, particularly the song she opened with which is like the 3rd song from the ATP set (it's about 6 or 7 minutes long). Probably my favorite Grouper song yet. She told me it's called "She Loves You something-or-other" but she's changing the name. Infinite Body was great as usual but a little bit too short, just did 4 songs. Ended with "Sunshine" which is a favorite. Ilyas was also way too short, also only did 4 songs, but he sounded good. Liz came up and sang the last song he played which was cool but I prefer his voice to his own material.
Just a really good bill overall and I left so satisfied. The Smell is picking up in quality bookings right now.
Grouper is always so fucking good live. That ATP set was the tits.
who knew... there are noise fans on the coachella board. right on.
It sorta counts...but I'll be at No Age this weekend.
I'm really excited for every band on that lineup, definitely not one to get there late for.

If you like drone... (the guitarsy-psychish kind in the vein of Earth & Sunn, etc.)... can't get a lot better than this lineup:
Tom Carter (of Charalambides)
Barn Owl
Magick Orchids
Robedoor
Slasher Risk
Dreamcolour
Synchronicity Space, Saturday May 29th, 9 pm show... I'll guess its $5.
Really excited for this one!
Nice! You should check out the one I just posted above too! Similar genre, a lot of really sweet acts on there.

Hmmmm that earlier show at the Echo Curio saturday might be worth checking out. Although I might be a little pooped by the end of the day. Are Pedestrian Deposit worth checking out live? Not really my style but seems like it could be awesome.
Oh man, I'll be out of town, too! Fuck you, little sister, for having to graduate high school.
Robedoor no longer playing the Saturday show with Carter and Barn Owl. Although instead they are playing Friday night at Ehco Curio with Inca Ore and Pocahaunted and some other people. Meh. Now I don't know which to go to. Probably can't go to both but I'll still try to make Saturday night...
The reason I'm so crushed is because Robedoor's new album is by far the best thing they've done so far, it's excellent, and I really recommend it.
Saturday will be the better show imo. But I'm not a fan of the new Pocahaunted material. Sean McCann was fantastic live. Hope he plays lots more shows.
