    Default Computer Speakers

I need some new computer speakers. I want something that cranks, has deep bass, and costs preferably under $75 bucks. Does anyone recommend any good ones?

Why don't you invest in a 3.99 cord to connect your stereo speakers to your computer?
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

Eh, raise a bit of extra money (maybe 40-50 bucks more) and go with the Logitech Z-2300 2.1 set up, trust me, it's worth it. Don't fuck around with the cheap shit.

I have the step below the Z-2300 2.1 set up and they still are the best computer speakers i've ever had, since i live upstairs in my building my floor/walls shake when i play bass-heavy music with the bass and volume only half way up. If you are looking for speakers with a lot of bass, Logitech is the way to go, and they aren't too expensive.

Edit: I actually have the Z-4 2.1 System, they are $99.99 on the Logitech website, and they are a great investment. I compared the ones i have to the Z-2300 on their website and the only difference i could see is that the Z-4 set up is not THX Certified, but the Z-4 has an AUX input on the volume control which the 2300's do not.

Altec Lansing are pretty good for commercial.
If you want to go high end though you check out EVENT monitors. They make passive & active pairs.

i personally wouldn't buy altec lansing or logitech or any of that stuff. i'd go with a lower end studio monitors. you'd fork over a little more cash, but you'd have some versatile in the long run. even something like the audioengine a5s would cut it.

I have the Altec Lansing VS4121 2.1 set up and I really like it. I'm seeing it for as cheap as $60 too.

You could always check Craigslist or pawnshops/thriftstores for speakers. I found a set that were desktop size in unstained wooden cabinets for like $15.
I assumed because of the cabinets, that they were possibly homebuilt, and planned on hooking them up in my truck. Ended up using them for my PC and they almost put the house system to shame. I had never heard of the name Armstrong2000 before, but they're pretty impressive for the price. I think they're like 225 watts. Add to that the Sub-Woofer by Creative, and I'm a happy camper.

Jared - I am looking for somehting like the AudioEngine 5, but cheaper? That style, and I don't need them to be super load - I will be using them in a small room on my third floor and don't need anything that will annoy wife in the room below.

    Any suggestions?

I need some speakers that are great at low volume for my office at work. Are the recommendations above fine, or is there something I should keep in mind for low-volume listening?

You can grab a pair of Harmon-Kardon Soundsticks used between $75-100. I really haven't heard any 2.1 speakers that even compare. They sound brilliant and they're cool as fuck.

I've been doing a bunch of reading up, and it sounds like these are pretty much the best sounding desktop-sized speakers (the 5s are really bookshelf-sized). Will probably be picking up a pair myself in the next few days.
