I'm only familiar with about half of the lineup. Do any acts other than strfkr play instruments and sing?

There will unavoidably be a ton of bros but I'm personally really excited for this since it's local. This is better than any event fucking LED has ever brought to San Diego.

Think this will sell out right away? Kinda want tickets, but the holidays really emptied the old bank account.

I'm thinking it will. There are over 2,000 people confirmed on the facebook event (not that this assures anything) and the venue looks fairly compact based on the pictures. I like the location they've got set up but I have no clue how they're going to be setting up the stages.

    park_t1200.jpg

I'm sure they'll use the grass area for one of the stages but aside from that, I don't know where they can put the other stages. I just hope they don't oversell tickets like a lot of fests seem to be doing these days for the sake of profits. I can see this getting packed as fuck.

Very excited about this, will be the first time since Street Scene I don't have to leave SD for an awesome festival. Just wish they would announce who is playing which day so I could decide if buying a 2-day pass just for Saturday is worth it.. Unfortunately I have to catch a flight to Texas on Sunday so I will miss most or all of that day. Either way, I hope this goes perfectly so it (and other festivals?) become a regular thing at the new park. SD<3

Right?? LED has been bring nothing but constantly recycled cheese for the last several years. I don't know if LED is connected to CRSSD at all, but I was pleasantly surprised at this lineup when it was first announced because we NEVER get anything like this here. I'm also hoping for a successful, non-clustered event that can continue every year.

Interesting they're using ticketfly instead of frontgate. Let's see how this goes....

Edit: Well that was extremely easy. $85 turned into $106.35 after fees.

Sorry I'm late on this but use this code for the low tier prices: FNGRS1ST

Edit: Nevermind, looks like the $85 ones are sold out.

i'm also wondering how the stages will be set up. based on this map and the names of the stages I would assume that they will use the stage area in the map as "the palms" (is that a permanent stage? or was it just used for the grand opening?), place a stage at either the opposite end or around what's labeled as 3/15 for "ocean view" and then have "city steps" in the courtyard labeled as 16?

I've progressed from whimsically to seriously considering attending this festival. Flights are cheap, hotels are cheap(ish), and the line-up is stellar. Now, to see if I can interest a friend or two.

I have a feeling a good chunk of these acts will be at Coachella. Looks like a great lineup, but the only way I am heading down there is if Hot Natured and DJ Harvey are absent on the Coachella lineup

    Crossovers with Coachella:

    Odesza
    Hot Natured
    Pete Tong
    DJ Harvey
    Jason Bentley
Seth Troxler (in JESS at Coachella)
MK (in Pleasure State at CRSSD)
    Bixel Boys

    I think that's it.

Tickets, hotel and flight purchased. I am so excited for this festival. IMHO, the only way this festival could improve is with the addition of Caribou and Ratatat. Regardless, I am so pleased with this line-up.

The only conflict I am concerned about is Maceo Plex vs. Empire of the Sun. I did some interweb research and it appears Maceo is performing Saturday and with Empire performing at a festival in New Orleans over the 13-14th, it's possible they perform on Sunday. Empire of the Sun would be a great way to close the festival.

I've created a CD length playlist of 20 artists from the line-up. I've cut the songs to present as a continuous mix. Enjoy!

Till Sunrise (feat. mammals) - Goldroom
    Be With You - Giraffage
All You're Waiting For (feat. Nancy Whong) - Classixx
    Fantasy (feat. Ruckazoid) - Breakbot
Cruel Intentions (feat. Beth Ditto) - Simian Mobile Disco
    Tenderoni (Renaud Mix) - Chromeo
    Subject Matter - Pleasure State
    Say My Name - J.Phlip
Sordid Affair (Maceo Plex remix) - Royksopp
    Benediction - Hot Natured
    Without Lies - Aeroplane
Don't Let the Morning Come (Justin Martin and Claude Von Stroke remix) - Soul Avengers
    I Want You - ODESZA
    Mona Vegas - STRFKR
Two Bodies (feat. Emma Louise) - Flight Facilities
    Feel Flows - Slow Magic
Long Way Down - Robert Delong
    Venice Venture - Big Wild
    Wanderer - SWIMM
We Are the People - Empire of the Sun

I agree, the Ocean View stage is stacked.

I'm not sure who Goldroom will employ as his singer this tour, but here's hoping it's Chela again.

So, the curfew will probably be around 10 or 11pm, correct? That'll leave a lot of time for post event shenanigans each day. I wonder if there will be any official after-parties.

Also, I haven't been to San Diego in 7 years, what are some good restaurants, bars and clubs in the vicinity of the Festival?

Depends on what your into and how far you wanna go. Downtown in SD is expensive on the weekends, especially during this festival. There are still a ton of good bars / restaurants though. If you want a cheap but awesome meal, The New Yorker is an really good pizza place that's right in the main area of downtown. Barleymash is a bit pricey but their food is insane and would no doubt settle any drunken cravings from CRSSD. Oh and Magnolia Tap & Grill is a bit nicer when it comes to their food but totally worth it. In terms of bars, The Tipsy Crow, Bootlegger, Neighborhood and Werewolf are my favorites and all within minutes of eachother downtown. There's also a place called Altitude which is a bar on top of the Marriott and has one of the BEST views of San Diego.

Lastly if you still want some live music, the Shout House is a dueling piano bar that despite the normal age group being a bit older, is always an absolute shit show and a ton of fun. I'm 26 and it's by far my favorite place to go downtown. Can't really help you with clubs though but from friends I've heard Vin De Syrah is pretty awesome (it apparently has a pretty elaborate Alice in Wonderland theme with grass on the walls and furniture hanging from the ceilings).

Check all these places out on Yelp and see what looks interesting. Hope it helps.
Fri: AC/DC, Tame Impala, Steely Dan, Alabama Shakes, Cloud Nothings, Eagulls, Allah-Las, Brant Bjork & the LDPB
Sat: Jack White, alt-J, Belle & Sebastian, Ratatat, Tyler the Creator, Father John Misty, Run the Jewels, Chet Faker, Kasabian, Milky Chance, Glass Animals, Royal Blood, Benjamin Booker, Ruen Brothers, Until the Ribbon Breaks
Sun: Florence & the Machine, Ryan Adams, St. Vincent, Brand New, Mac Demarco, Vance Joy, St. Lucia, Saint Motel, the Orwells, Night Terrors of 1927

Bang Bang is the main club CRSSD normally holds their events at and is also my personal favorite in San Diego and really the only club I can tolerate downtown. It's interesting because it's a sushi bar during the day (I've never eaten there before), and they open it up to a club at night.

They'll most likely have the after parties at Bang Bang, I'd love to see them book Maceo Plex but I won't hold my breath for that. Regardless, make sure you check out this place if you're wondering where to party downtown because most of the other clubs tend to be full of frat bros and the typical SD scene that I try to stay away from.
