I thought his was cool a year or 2 ago but i put it on a couple days ago and it's terrible, maybe they are trying to avoid a repeat of this crap by not having them do one.
Last night's essential mix from Danny Byrd was awesome!
the music is what its all about, you love it just like i love it.
I've never really listened to Swedish House Mafia but their live set from Creamfields that BBC1 has available for the week is pretty fucking bad ass.
11/22: The Joy Formidable @ Rickshaw Stop
11/27: Interstellar Funk, PAN label showcase, M.E.S.H @ f8
11/28: Szare (live), Hodge @ f8
11/28: Nick Hoppner @ Monarch
12/1: The Dandy Warhols @ GAMH
12/4: !!! @ Slim's
12/5: Deerhunter @ 9:30 Club
12/6: Deerhunter @ Union Transfer
12/9: Kiasmos @ Mezzanine
12/11: HEALTH @ The Independent
Danny Byrd's mix is FIRE. Pendulum's 2010 mix, while not mixed so... "traditionally," has alot of really fresh sounds and kept my interest. It also made me appreciate some of the tracks on their new album which I thought I hated. So there's that...
COACHELLA '06 '07 '08 '09 '10 '11
08/09 - Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs
08/12 - Sigur Ros
08/24 - Shlohmo
09/01 - FYF Fest
09/11 - Swans
10/06 - Mono
10/13 - The XX
My favorite EM this year is still James Zabiela's. He's such a technician and the amount of creativity put into his set really shines through. Give that man 2+ hours and he definitely tells a story.
just finished the count & sinden's essential , pretty solid throughout. nice variety of house. i'm diggin the "tropical" sound that count & sinden are putting out.
Oh and their set @ EDC this year was INSANE

UNDERWORLD - 2015 - THE PRODIGY
haven't listened to herve's 08 , ill check it out.
Four Tet mix is the shit, it would be so awesome to see him @ Coachella '11
I know how much this board loves listing but I'd be interested in seeing everyone's top 5-10 EM's. Just so I can narrow down where to start, feel free to list away as a favor to me.
I don't keep up with essential mix that much but I do recommend:
Carl Cox (2007)
Booka Shade (2007)
Boys Noize (2009)

Top 5 (after #1 they are in specific order)
1- Adam Freeland ('08)
2 - Silicon Soul ('05)
3 - Rennie Pilgrim ('05)
4 - High Contrast ('07)
5 - Laidback Luke ('08)
But there are a lot I have not heard, but all of those are great.
Edit: I would also like to add The Twelves, I really enjoy theirs.

# 1 will always be SASHA on any respectable list.
I've only heard part of the Sasha EM once, and I turned it down.
(sorry Andrew, that was me at HARD Summer '09.)
I don't see an opitimistic Raiders quote anywhere on your list, wtf?!
The Twelves essential mix is good.

Anyone know why http://www.essentialmixes.net hasn't updated for awhile?
Oh alright, wasn't sure. But if you do have some that you feel are better than any on my list let me know so I can check them out.
digitalism's is pretty enjoyable, and jack beats will get the party going.
