What's the logic behind a 6pm time slot of Sleighbells? They seem like an early act to me.
I just don't see PP interrupting the flow of Wolfgang/Proxy/Erol in any way.
9/21: Khruangbin @ The Independent
9/22: Moon Duo, Cold Beat @ The New Parish
9/24: Dolly Parton @ Shoreline
9/30: Omar-S @ TBA
10/9: Midland, Erika @ The Midway
10/14: Margo Price @ GAMH
10/15: Cymbals Eat Guitars @ Shea Stadium BK
10/16: Anthony Naples, Justin Carter @ Nowadays
10/21: Screaming Females @ The Night Light
10/25: Hiss Golden Messenger @ The Independent
09/28: Nicolas Jaar @ Taub
11/16: Neko Case @ The Fox Theater Oakland
But they are billed before the 4 acts preceding them in the Gobi. so.. ?
Although, after seeing live videos, I can see Little Dragon playing later in the night in the Gobi. It won't be an ideal set time.. but they are kind of billed for a not so great set time.
thoughts? feelings? comments?
Sleigh Bells only has about 30 minutes or so worth of material. Where Little Dragon has two full length albums. Who knows though. I could be wrong. I just see SB playing around 2-3 pm.
I do too, actually. They just kind of ended up there. But I'm updating this now..
So, I'll make the change..
PiL's facebook says they are playing 9:50-10:50? Ok... but that still doesn't mean the time is set in stone. I remember in 2008, Scars on Broadway website said they were playing the Mojave at 6:35 (or something specific like that). This was about a month before set times were released. When the set times came out, they were actually playing at 6:10. So... maybe PiL actually play 9:40-10:40, then The Specials start at 11 and play till close. Maybe?
you're right, rage. It's not set in stone, but your example only shows that it is probably pretty damn close. And yeah, someone (The Specials) COULD still go on after PiL, but I have to ask..
Do we think anyone will be on the Outdoor during Jay-Z?
It's an open question.. what say you all?
Waters, Macca, and Prince didn't have anyone on the Outdoor during their show.. but I think that's pretty understandable.
Jack Johnson didn't but that's most likely because he would've been drowned out by anyone on the Outdoor.
The Cure did, but they played a long ass set.
The Killers did, but they were our lame headliner.
So, does Jay-Z have an ego/show as big as Prince or Macca?
Or is he going to have an act opposite him on the Outdoor because he's not a "typical" Coachella headliner?
by the way, where the hell do we put Street Sweeper Social Club?
I think PIL will be the outdoor stage's closer, and will finish by the beginning of Jay-Z's set. It just feels right.
Well, if PiL DO end at 10:50... we can assume Jay-Z will start by 10:45 at the latest... so at the very least, there will be a 5 minute PiL/Jay-Z conflict.
With that being said, I think someone will play right through Jay-Z on the outdoor.
Jay-Z is kind of a polarizing act for Coachella. I have a feeling there will be acts on each stage opposite his set.
I am neither foxy, nor a lady.
Neil Young - Kanye West - Beck - PJ Harvey - The Knife - Basement Jaxx - Tom Waits - Shpongle (Live) - Flying Lotus (Live) - The Avalanches - Autechre - Eels - Fat Freddy's Drop - Liquid Liquid - OFWGKTA - Freddie Gibbs - Big K.R.I.T. - Phantogram - Christian Scott - Nosaj Thing - Gold Panda - James Blake
Keeping the Outdoor empty for Jay-Z as of now.
Switched out Lucero (who the fuck?) for Street Sweeper Social Club ?
Put Dillinger Escape Plan closing the Gobi.
Made Sleigh Bells earlier.
Booted Grace Jones, put Passion Pit in the Sahara.
mod edit: please have the common courtesy to state in very obvious way that your thing is FAKE, WISHLIST or whatever or we end up with your crap circulating on the Internets like real. it may be kind of funny but not to all the tards that think its real and whine and complain to us later about it.

The background says "FAKE". This is a "Predictions" thread. And it's in Misc. Babble.Originally Posted by mod edit:

what more should I do?
as much as i LOVE wolfgang gartner he really isnt huge yet. I dont see him playing that late. Although i think he would kill it, he is probably going to get a late afternoon set
Monthly Promotional Mix Series now available
Just out of curiosity... where did we get that PIL ends their set at 10:50pm? I believe I was the one who found that their facebook page lists a start time of 9:50pm, but there is no end time. I think it's conceivable that PIL could do a 2 hour set, no?
Oh, good to know gene. I didn't actually look it up.
2 hour set? nnnnno.
I only say that because I just read that they were playing 2 hour sets in the UK recently, someone commented about it on their facebook page.
So if they wanted to close a stage AND play a 2 hour set, they're perfectly billed for it.
Last year, when The Orb had 3 hours to close the Gobi.... GV gave them 55 minutes and The Orb stuck to it. They have been known to play 3 hour sets, but they only played 55 minutes. GV would not give PiL 2 hours.
Also, I am sayin this right now... if Friday gets a big addition, like rumoured, and everything shifts down a spot on the mainstage, there is NO. WAY. The Specials will play at 4pm on the mainstage. That would not happen.
What you guys need to keep in mind is that there are alot more subheadliner-esque bands this year. None of our headliners this year will play to a silent outdoor.
you think Gorillaz won't?
I'd be very surprised if say more than half of Gorillaz's set faced a silent outdoor.
The White Stripes 9/18
I think the only band that could fit into that slot after PIL would be Passion Pit because they only have one album worth of material so they don't need a large set time and they have the billing that would allow them to play that spot. Otherwise I think the OT would just shut down after PIL.
The White Stripes 9/18
Also, on their website the report playing another music festival where it explicitly states they will be closing a stage at the festival. I would think, if they knew this information, they would say the same about Coachella.
