I saw them a few nights ago and they were excellent. The new songs sound great live.

Saw their first show of the tour the friday before last in Charlottesville. They played really well and sounded great but their set was too heavily concentrated on an album that hasnt come out yet.
I'm having a bit of trouble with this album, too. So much of it is, you know, nice. A lot of these songs feel like Teen Dream b-sides.
whilst maybe bloom doesnt progress in the way beach house have in the past its a really beautiful dreamscape of an album with 4 or 5 real standout tracks, and i really hope that theyre on the coachella 13 lineup, headlining the 2nd stage when the obligatory rap artist cloases out sunday
bring beach house for 2013!

You guys heard about this VW crap? Apparently VW's ad agency repeatedly approached Beach House about using "Take Care" from Teen Dream in a VW ad. Beach House declined. So what did the agency do? They hired a fake Beach House band to make their own version of the song. Yikes.
Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey I said hey what's going on

I didn't mind the new stuff when we saw earlier this month. Was fun. That VW thing was crazy, but not unprecedented.
Upcoming: 04/10/15-04/12/15 - Coachella Weekend One; Foo Fighters - 09/27/15 (Isleta Amphitheater - Albuquerque, NM)
Oh, it's all perfectly lovely. It's just that - with the exception of a couple of tracks - it doesn't really have the pull of the last album.
Now listening to Bloom for the first time and I already gravitate towards this album more than Teen Dream
I'ma ball at the mall shuttin' down the sea wall
Bloom is the first Beach House album I listened to and I vastly prefer it to Teen Dream or their other material.
"Real Drum & Bass is not something that sounds like a 17 year old rock band who have just listened to Slipmatt on their first E & decided to make Drum & Bass" - Marcus Intalex

Two shows scheduled around SF April 16 and 17. Seems like a good chance for them being at Coachella next year....

So I attended the second show Depression Cherry tour last night and, depending on your tolerance for heat and humidity, either it rotted or ruled. It was definitely memorable show. I didn't pass out.
Pearl Street is a dilapidated night club/concert venue in downtown Northampton that has shitty ventilation, shittier acoustics and on a hot August 2015 night, became a dream-pop infused sauna. If you stayed hydrated in the 100+ degree heat and 100% humidity in the club, you probably enjoyed the show, which highlighted a lot of new material and the best of Bloom and a smattering of older stuff - they encored with a long jam of 10 Mile Stereo. Alex and Victoria tried to make the best of the situation which included too many feedback glitches and guitar/ pedal malfunctions from, I'm guessing the horrible humidity and sweat, by apologizing in between songs and commenting on how bizarre a show it was turning into with all of the heat-exhaustion casualties and sound issues. I mean it wasn't their fault. Midway through the set the management opened up the fire doors which alleviated the sauna somewhat. They stayed away from old standards: no Norway, no Silver Soul, no Zebra. But Take Care got the biggest sing-along moment of the night. The new songs sounded like vintage Beach House; no dramatic departure from their signature sound and if you love the band, you'll love the new record and the live show.
If you had a lousy time because of the conditions, blame the IHEG group for not putting this show at their outdoor venue, Mountain Park, which would have been perfect. Beach House opened up for Vampire Weekend there four years ago and with a stronger support act/co-headliner, would have sold enough pre-sale tickets to justify the bump. Pretty sure the show was over-sold for Pearl Street with a lot of last minute walk up sales.

Depressed they aren't coming to Phoenix...
I am driving from Denver to Omaha to see them, just because they are skipping us on the tour as well. I loved them at Coachella 2013.
AC/DC and Steely Dan? Why not just get a Don Henley project on the poster so my dad can bring his R/V, his fourth wife, and make a day out of the damn thing?
