They are playing NOJazz Fest a week later and I know they are itching to do some shows...they are a perfect sub headliner at ANY festival (everyone at their Coachella set in 08 can contest to that)

but could also be a great headliner (anyone at MSG NYE 08 can contest to that).

It is. It's minutes upon minutes of Jim James sounding like Kermit The Frog to what is essentially a simple drum beat.

They are a glorified jam band and belong at Rothbury and nowhere near the Polo Fields.

I saw 3 songs of theirs at Bonnaroo in 2008 and I had to leave it was so boring. People were going crazy, but some of the drugged-out hippies will go crazy for anything with lights.

They have been to 2 Coachellas, but haven't been well received at either of them. Jam bands don't belong at Coachella.

I saw MMJ and the Black Keys at Red Rocks and it still remains one of the top 5 shows I have ever seen in my life. They were fucking awesome at coachella too, right at sunset, what a performance.

I could not believe it when I heard The Black Keys opened for MMJ at Red Rocks. I imagine that at least half of the crowd left after The Black Keys finished.

Those are some of arguments that you might see from some of the people on the board. Coachella people don't seem to like them all that much.

I saw that Red Rocks show and it was maybe the best show I have ever seen at that point. Still one of the top 3 or 4 shows of my life. MMJ is really one of the best live bands out there. Though it would be kind of frustrating to not be able to see them play the 3-hour sets they routinely play.

By the way, HandBanana, the version of "Dondante" on Okonokos is one of my favorite songs by anybody. At Bonnaroo 2008, I was asleep in my tent when they were playing that (I didn't plan very well that year). As soon as the song got aggressive and Jim belted out "You had me worried!..." I woke up and listened to the rest of the song then "Run Thru" and fell back asleep. It was a really interesting experience.

My Morning Jacket is one of my top 5 or so favorite bands of all time, and that's largely because of the live show. Though I do hold Z and It Still Moves in high regard.
