Care to weigh in?
I wish I liked The Rapture more, but the vocals are too grating for me.
My name is Becca. Hi.
Me and Keep2TheStreets got in to a drug fuelled debate on who was the better band.
Kingsblend chimed in, with the knowledge that he had never heard of Phoenix, which we all found incredible.
Now I am trying to find out what everyone else thinks. I also posted those specific albums because they came out around the same time.
They're both pretty hit and miss, to be honest. Phoenix had 2 listenable songs on their debut, while Rapture had... 3?. Phoenix got my vote for being more prolific and releasing a pretty good album in 2009.
I'd trade them both for one Cut Copy.
Anybody know if The Rapture has announced any hints about their next album's release? I know that after the bassist left in July, they found a new one and were supposedly working on new material.
Their website is now just an oft-updated collection of their favorite songs, art, books, etc. Weird. Hope they're gonna put out some new music in the near future. I fucking love them.
Echoes is a fantastic record. Their outdoor theater slot in 2004 was awesome.
I like everything Phoenix has done, their new one might be their best.

Probably wouldn't have really heard Phoenix if it weren't for this board. They're alright.
The Rapture get points for providing the theme tune to one of my favourite shows though, so I guess they sort of win.
Ehh...the rapture were pretty good with Echoes, i didnt really like their followup album. But "house of jealous lovers" is always going to be a hit.
Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is one of my favorite albums this year so...i'll be going with choice B.

I love this thing:
So, The Rapture
the rapture. phoenix is blah to me.
Saw The Rapture open for The Cure. Meh. Phoenix is fun.
I got to see The Rapture in 2004. They were great. Not so great in 2007.
At Coachella, of course.
The Rapture for me. I think they're more creative.
I have a problem with the way Phoenix singer uses his voice. He seems to be doing the same thing (intonations and tempo) all the time. I had Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix on at low volume recently and really couldn't tell much differnce between the songs. I like the album overall, it's OK. But if I had to choose one group as a "Dance Band" to play at my party, no doubt it would be the Rapture. As I recall, their set in the Sahara in 07 followed LCD SS, and thats a tough act to follow for almost any group.
i heart both the Rapture and Phoenix. but i'm a bigger Phoenix fan. i still get a little giddy whenever that Cadillac commercial (or some other promo w/ a WAP track backing it) comes on TV, no matter how many times it has aired prior.
and JebusLives, i ADORE Cut Copy. i don't think i could decide on who i liked better in a Phoenix vs. Cut Copy poll.
