incorrect. he should be one of the sub-headliners.
You would think that Goldenvoice would have recognized Tom's greatness by now and offered him whatever it takes to perform. In my world, he would be a headliner, but in reality unfortunately, he would have to be a sub-headliner because he's still too underground even for all the Coachella music-snobs who think they know all the cool shit. If you don't know Tom Waits, you need to fix that situation ASAP.
Who said anything about being a nerd? I was talking about you being a pain in the ass. You're going to start threads for every little idea that comes into your head thinking it hasn't been mentioned before and hop into threads to mention completely irrelevant desires of your gay heart, aren't you?
I would looooooooove to see Tom Waits !
talked about in the music lounge.....
Id like it more if he wasnt there.
His voice sounds like shit, I don't know why people enjoy just hearing some fool grunt.
Cohen can still perform well, while Dylan is depressing and embarassing.

Unfortunately Tom Waits won't be at Coachella.
He hates California, hardly ever plays there.
Thelastgreatman was his debut on the board. It currently has just over 10,000 posts. Then came rotationslimwang, which also has over 10,000 posts. Now, we have Monklish. With his 3 accounts combined, he is the second highest poster on the board. Just below Supre, but just above Amy.
Yeah he can sing just like that now. His voice hasn't changed one bit.
He kind of always alternated between the severely gravely voice and the actual singing voice though. Small Change was only 76 and he was using more or less the same voice he has now.
Headliner? WTF This wouldn't necessarily be bigger than Leonard Cohen last year would it...and Cohen played outdoor stage. Definitely want him to be there but he'd never be a headliner.
This conversation about his voice reminds me of a funny thing that happened in chat a while ago. Sushy (who dislikes Tom Waits) was tremendously gullible here. He asked something like, "Why the fuck does his voice sound like that anyway." I replied, "Well you see, after his first couple of albums he wanted to change the sound of his voice. Before all of his gigs he decided to drink a whole bottle of scotch, then eat the bottle. I'm talking consuming all of the glass shards and everything." Sushy's response, "Oh yeah. I've heard that before, I just forgot. What a dumbass."
Well just because you're from a place sure as hell doesn't mean you like it. It's actually usually the opposite. However, I wasn't aware that he still lives in CA so I'll repharse it for you fuckers, "Tom Waits hates playing in California because of the terrible audiences who just stand there like dolts and don't even really get into the show. Therefore, he always skips that state when touring."
yeah he grew up here. cool interview he did with beck.
