Also since that date wasn't officially announced maybe they're waiting for a certain announcement before releasing it...

Also Jamie states he doesn't think the main stage can hold the entire orchestra, then later states the second stage is likely getting moved?? HMMM!

They could start the day with Spiritualized a la Sufjan last year.

So the Pixies are touring with Fuck Buttons throughout the US during September. I doubt they'd play since the Breeders are already scheduled, but who knows.

You're nuts!! There is a ton of space for a headliner on all 3 days and no date is anywhere close to booked solid. Friday is nowhere near full either. I'm almost guaranteeing Doolittle.. They're with fuck buttons, deal is already here, and the band is to be in Philly a few days after the event

I'm just saying I'm gonna say super doubtful because with Stooges, Sonic Youth, EITS and Breeders I'm guessing there's not enough cash for TWO more headliner announcements since that Jarmusch hole is prolly gonna need filling before they bring a 30-piece orchestra up in there

    Again, prove me wrong!

Both are within the realm of possibility. Crazier things have happened at many a ATP. Although I would not personally be thrilled with either of them...

Yeah, on some level I would love to see Pixies play Doolittle but I don't see how it'd fit with Friday as currently constructed. The Stooges, the Scientists and Mudhoney form a nice, neat chain. Maybe Sleep could be seen as the next step in that chain but it is at least a side step... but regardless they fit in perfectly.

Pixies do not make sense with that set. Doesn't mean they couldn't be enjoyed and maybe such rock shows should not have that sort of clarity but shit.

And I would be shocked if Sonic Youth were not the Saturday headliner.

i would be surprised... but not shocked. it would be a money thing... not an ego thing... getting in the way of that happening.

    I agree with this 100%

i agree that that Doolittle would be a money issue, but just the timing of everything and the fact that Deal is already playing the fest, AND the fact that they're touring not only with a band who is playing the fest, but is on ATP/R makes me think that something came together to make it happy. Honestly I would be 1000000x happier if ATP was the first promoters who got them to do Surfer Rosa.

And we'll see about saturday. I wouldn't be surprised if they were, but I wouldn't be shocked if they weren't. When I said headliners I meant to fill up the top 4 spots(headlining and just preceding stage 1 and same for stage 2)

They may not be very popular yet, but I would love to see Gauntlet Hair. Even though they don't have an lp yet, their 7" is FANTASTIC. It be great to have their first American Festival be ATP. And I hear they're very good live too.

i think the last thing a band that new needs to be doing is playing festivals.

i agree to a certain extent. neon indian's third show was at monolith last year and it was really good. but i still agree that i don't wanna ruin them early.

i would agree for large festivals... something like ATP is small enough that I don't think it's a huge deal.

ATP doesn't come across as a festival so much as a meeting of like, appreciative minds who love the music that's being played. I think Gauntlet Hair would be a very good fit for that sort of festival.

If ATP was a book, this is the quote I would put on the back cover.

Here are my final predictions before the next announcement which sounds like it's coming next week: Broken Social Scene, Pixies, Spiritualized, Dirty Projectors, Swans, The Clean, Mission of Burma, Beach House.
